We stayed here for 3 nights in Feb 2007. Location is great, the neighbourhood is considered safe, and the big mall "Larcomar" is just a 3 minute walk away, with shops, restaurants and a cinema.

There is a small gym and tiny pool on the roof of the hotel (the pool was quite dirty), both free of charge.
The room was ok, small, but clean. Breakfast was adequate, so was the staff.

I don't think you get the "correct" impression of Lima, if you stay here, but considering the crime level in the city, it felt safe, and we discovered Lima with guided tours during daylight instead :-)

Ps. We ordered online at the Best Western website, and got a free pick up at the airport (a 25 minutes drive), but you have to write specifically in the comment box that you want it. Only one way though - but still :-)

Like many travelers through Lima, I had a late night arrival with an early morning departure. For my first night in Peru I wanted to stay at a reputable "chain" hotel. I chose Best Western Embajadores because of the price, name, location and complimentary airport pick up.

Unfortunately, the driver failed to pick me up. After hiring my own taxi, I arrived at the hotel at 2am. The frontdesk (who spoke English) was profusely apologetic and sincerely concerned. They offered me a complimentary cocktail and swiftly checked my into my room. The following morning, they arranged for and paid for my taxi back to the airport.

The moderately modern hotel is pleasant and serviceable. The small pool and deck were being refinished at the time (Jan 2007) and were inaccessible, but it looked to be nice on a hot day. My room was on the back of the building and was serenely quiet. The complimentary morning breakfast buffet was substantial enough to give one a good start to the day. Both day and night crews were pleasant and friendly, and spoke modest English. The location is on a residential street, but a stone's throw and walking distance to anything in Miraflores.

The small size of the room and the lack of amenities does not make for a comfortable long stay. But for 1-3 days it is ideal. Also note that unregistered guests or friends are not allow up to the rooms and they must wait in the lobby.

Despite the initial mishap of the no-show-driver, I would stay at the hotel again and recommend it to others. Considering the free transfer, breakfast, local calls, etc., the base price becomes a steal.

I arrived after midnight and the night staff were fantastic, made me welcome and right at home. My travelling companion had arrived earlier in teh day and was sound asleep and a pass key was organised so taht I could get in without waking him.

All staff were fantastic (apart from one who was educated in the US and had a "holier than thou " attitude) and provided great service and advise. Stayed 2 nights, breakfast was great and the staff even more friendly than expected. Our valuables were locked in teh in house safe and all movements noted by the front desk. Well organised for early starts and late arrivals. Their support in ensuring we made conenctions and tours was fantastic.

They recommended a great restaurant and a fabulous dish to have for dinner and organised a taxi for the trip to the restaurant. They wanted to ensure taht we had a great meal and that we were looked after - fantastic service.

Still no Australian flag - I will remedy on my next visit.

Stayed here for just one night before flying onto Cusco and found it to be fine for a one or two night stay - good location just a couple of blocks from the Larcomar area, and a US$15 ride from Lima airport, although they do free airport pick up so you only have to pay one way. The rooms were clean, beds fairly comfy, breakfast fine - juices, toast, fruit, hot&cold meats, eggs etc. Fridge in room, and cable TV although no iron - requested one but it didn't arrive! Showers could be more powerful, but they were hot and clean so didn't mind. The staff were very friendly and helpful - especially the barman, and the free welcome drink of a Pisco Sour was a nice touch - as was the little key ring they gave us on departure. All in all, not the height of luxury but clean and safe and fine for a short stay - booked via Expedia and got a very good price (around £30).

My wife & I stayed here on the first night of our Peruvian tour. During breakfast the next morning, we had US$200 in travellers cheques & US$10 in cashstolen from the baggage in our room. The thieves were clever: they took the travellers cheques from the middle of the sequence, left another US$20 note and left our other valuables including our passports & new digital camera - presumably so we wouldn't notice until later! We had to return to the hotel at the end of the tour. One of our party had some property stolen from a bag left in secure storage at the hotel before we were picked up for the return flight!

Warning - Trust no-one in this hotel & look after all your property at all times !!!
