“How did Vindaloo become sweet?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

I like the atmosphere, it reminds of the local Indian restaurant when I lived in SW London. The curries I have tried have been overly sweet, even the vindaloo. Still enjoyed myself, but the sweetness keeps me wondering what is going on.

“The indian restaurant in to go in Lima”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

There is no argument about that the place is not around the corner for most Lima vistors nor expats living there. The question is, is it worth the way out Ovalo higuerata for some curry, butter chicken and paratas?

The place is located just at Av. Alfredo Benavides, two blocks behind the ovalo Higuerata. A (safe) cab ride from Miraflores or San Isidro is between 10 - 15 Soles. Its a small restaurant with very considered stuff and really cold beer.

The food however is the true reason you are going out there. Very good and well prepared. You are offered various levels of spiciness. from mild to very hot. And they are actually what the waiter say they are, mild, hot, very hot.... Well done!

I recommend the butter chicken with some simple paratas. Simple but authentic!

Conclusion. Yes, its worth driving out there. Take a couple of friend, enjoy some beer and good indian food.

Cheers all together

“A superb range of curries and service with a smile.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

I can't stop going back to Guru! the owner, Waheed, is an excellent host and a very friendly guy who never seems to stop trying to improve or diversify the menu to suit all tastes. Each curry is made to your own spice level of choosing, meaning that if you like hot curries but enjoy the flavour of a korma, you can have both. The biggest improvement in recent months is the addition of naan bread. This just tops off the experience.

The atmosphere is very nice, with some amusing if not incredibly addictive Bollywood videos in the background to enhance the ambiance.

“Friendly and good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

If you live in Lima and love indian food you need this place in your life. Okay, it would probably not win any awards if it was in England but it provides tasty, fresh indian cuisine at reasonable prices. The owner is very friendly and the waiters attentive. It's a lovely, fun atmosphere (with hillarious bollywood songs and dancing being shown on loop on television screens). Give it a go...

“Distinctly Average”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

I can only think the other reviewers have never tried real indian food. But this place is distinclty average, i will conceed that i like the cosy decor, very different from the glitz and glamour of many restaurants in Lima. The mango lassi was decent and the breads and small bites were good but the actual curry was very dissapointing, totally average could have come from a packet in any supermarket or would not have been out of place served on a plane after being nuked in the microwave on Indian airways economy class.

Service - standard peruvian service (i.e non existent)
