I stayed at Don Carlos Carmel Hotel in Lima when I first arrived. They had a taxi waiting at the airport for me, which was a blessing.
My room was clean, quiet and had everything I needed plus a few extras. It had a carpeted floor which seemed a bit musty when the humidity was high and when it was sweltering hot...other than that, it was a perfect room!
I stayed in a single room and it was the ONLY hotel in all of Peru (that I encountered) that had a bathtub - quite a luxury.
The bathroom was large, had hot water at all times and also had a hair dryer.
The room was just right in terms of size for one person. Very clean room with large windows that open. The room also had air conditioning.
My room had a mini fridge which was handy, a television with cable and a self-programmable safe which was a real bonus!
Located in the pretty, spacious, relaxing lobby is free internet service which seems rare at hotels in Peru I have come to find.
The cafe in the hotel is clean, spacious and bright - it also had some of the best coffe (made to order) I had in Lima. Take my word for it.
The staff were neutral except for the doormen who were very friendly and provided much advice about Lima (thanks "Lucho")!
It was right in the heart of Miraflores, about a 5 minute walk, in a VERY safe location, to Kennedy Park.
I would stay here again.
