“Amazing Ceviche!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2014

The ceviche here is fantastic and once you taste it you'll understand why there is always a queue of locals outside. This place is packed with tables so expect to be squeezed in. We had ceviche mixto (amazing) and a cheesy squid dish which was an interesting... It's priced perfectly for what you get, portions are big and the fish super fresh. The frozen lemonade was great too.

“Best Ceviche!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2014

Canta Rana is located in the Barranco district of Peru and is a must-do for Ceviche lovers. The restaurant itself is a very casual place with loads of tables. The wood slatted walls are decorated with sports and pop-culture paraphernalia and pictures. On recommendation that this place has the best Civeche in Peru, we stopped in for a light lunch. We split a Civeche Mixto (a combo of seafood and fish done to perfection with just the right amounts of lime and cilantro) and a lovely shrimp dish. With the bread for dipping and a couple of bottles of one of the nicest red beers we've had - Cusquena Red Lager, it was the perfect midday meal. We had the Ceviche Mixto - a combo of fish and seafood done to perfection with just the right amount of lime and Cilantro. Enjoy!

“Ignore the line-Wait”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2014

A testament to this place is the fact that the line was half way down the street & you had to take a number as at the meat counter in the grocery store or to register at a doctors office. We waited 40 minutes on a Saturday but it was well worth the wait. The food was amazing. The staff were friendly & the service was fast. this place is a must when in Barranco.

“SIMPLE AND GREAT”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

I went to Canta Rana with my sister and my mother in my last trip to Lima-Peru.

Restaurant is located in the bohemian district of Barranco.

Food was exquisite and Chicha Morada excellent.

It is not maybe what you expect in terms of decoration like I said very simple restaurant but great food.

Give it a try ! I heard it is super busy so try not to go at pick hours.

Have a great meal !

“It's good but you can find better cebiche elsewhere.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2014

We went to Canta Rana following the suggestion of the owner of our B&B.

In the restaurant there was a nice atmosphere, with all these soccer teams flags hanging from the walls. We wanted to try the cebiche and I have to say it was just ok. There was definitely too much lime on it that covered all the flavour of the fish. The price wasn't that cheap

I can't say it was a bad experience.but during our travel we learned that if you want to try the real cebiche you should go directly in the small restaurants inside the markets, where the locals go, you will find cheaper and better executed cebiche
