“Best food in Lima with the best service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2011

Fantastic food. Run by French nuns that come out to sing Ave Maria at the end of the evening. It's so awesome! The nuns are so nice the entire time and make you feel so welcome.

“Great Food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2011

We decided to go for a Lima morning tour and went to an exhibition at the Museo de Arte de Lima, then began walking around the city and decided to try the L'Eau Vive" because of the good recommendations of friends.

The place was very quiet, it was a Saturday, all the customers that came in seemed that they were regulars.

The lady attending us was very nice and sweet.

They brought hot delicious bread that was promptly eaten and the lady asked us if we wanted more!

When the food came it was great and the ice cream was heavenly! The lemonade was perfect.

I would recommend it to anyone.

“A hidden gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2011

I went at lunch, and paid a pittance for a great meal. Other than street food, this was one of the cheapest meals I had in Peru. The 3 courses were each good. I'd say this food wasn't as much "fine dining" as it was "comfort" food. The atmosphere is more like a cafeteria than a nice restaurant. My meal was a salad, baked chicken and bread pudding. I was a bit surprised to arrive and find Spanish was not spoken! Since we had no French speaking people in our party, we had to take a guess at the menu items. For lunch you get to choose a starter, main course and dessert. It's possible to determine what meat you're getting (pesce, pollo, etc) but other than that, we weren't sure. That was a large part of the fun...seeing what dish came to our table! For a touristy area of Lima, this restaurant offered a better value for the money and something different than the standard tourist food around the Plaza and Church of San Francisco. It's a bit tricky to find, but surely worth it!

“It could become a habit!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2011

When we found out that this restaurant was run by nuns we had no idea what to expect so we had to go and check it out.
Tucked away behind a very unassuming, large black door in central Lima you cannot fail to be impressed when you first go into this wonderful haven of tranquility.
Our first visit was an evening one and surprisingly it was quite quiet but the food was absolutely stunning which was what took us back one lunch time when the place was absolutely packed.
The ladies were absolutely delightful and couldn't do enough for you. The food was stunning (i.e. prawn cocktails, sole in lemon butter, huge steaks) and they served beers and wines too which was not wholly expected. The bill was a very pleasant surprise and any tip is most gratefully received and goes to help local poor people.
The whole concept and set up of getting some lovely nuns to run a great restaurant for the benefit of local poor people is just great. Go and see them!
