At a 40min. moto-taxi ride from Iquitos, Yakuruna is the perfect distance from town! After a bumpy ride, customary in Peru, ones eyes fall upon the beautiful guesthouse. Five rooms of varying sizes assure one to privacy and complete access at any time to all of Yakuruna's amenities. After placing your bags in your preferred room you can dive off of the balcony into the warm waters of the Nanay. And why climb back up the stairs to jump for the umpteenth time when you can simply drift away in one of their kayaks? Going against the softly flowing river, the likes of which one might see in a magazine, you will eventually come across a passage that transports you to a lagoon even larger than the river itself. But be sure to remember to ask for a fishing rod because who knows how big of a story you might catch! Now it's time to relax, which hammock do I choose. While enjoying a delicious Peruvian beer by the waterfront Paulo or his wife Benedicte will come to ask you, chicken, fish, cappybara, crocodile, vegetarian, your choice. All the meals are hearty and well worth the price! Meals consist of a fresh avocado salad, an entrée, and if you are lucky papaya decadently coated in jungle honey with a squeeze of lime. Oh, and did I memtion the different fresh squeezed juices served with each meal, indescribable. If you don't like the French love songs, classy jazz, ambient Indian mantras, chill reggae, or African drums then put on your own music, it's your house here. You will always be greeted by beautiful smiles from this trilingual family run paradise. Paco will pick you up from the airport, take you to Iquitos or anywhere else you could want to go. This is a good place to wind down if you have been touring Iquitos and the surrounding area. However, if this is your first stop then be sure to ask Paolo about what might be next, his connections range far and wide. Whether it be a jungle cruise, a safari into the wild, or a trip to the famous Niheu Rao center of shamanism to consult the famous Maestro Ricardo, his cousin shaman Julian, or his aunt Muralla Olivia he is the man to set it up. All in all, Yakuruna has all the one could ask for and then more.
