“Nice place !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

This is my 3th stay at this wonderful hotel, I have been traveling to Iquitos for the past 3 years and I would not consider staying at any other hotel. The breakfast is wonderful and I feel safe eating at the hotel's restaurant, in the company of parrots. The hotel is beautiful! There is nothing like it in Iquitos, a 5 star treat. The rooms are lovely and the service is beyond excellent, some people speak English which is important for some of us who cannot speak Spanish.
The hotel is located in a central place, close to the Plaza which is must to see while in the city. I feel very safe staying there and wondering around that part of the city.

This hotel was a great stop-over for our trip to the Amazonas. Very clean hotel and friendly staff. Now in these times when busy people like me can't be totally away from work...My problem was with the wifi which they have a different network for every corner of the house and every network is so slow that makes-it impossible to use... I would advise them to get-rid-off of so many routers around the house and to place just one with good signal. Also was missing the air conditioning - I have stayed there in two different occasions and both times I was assigned with a room with fan which help a lot but an air conditioning on these times are easy accessible and with the heat of Iquitos I am sure that all your guests will be very happy. Otherwise this place was very clean and efficient in check-in and check-out.

I stayed in two different rooms and had two completely different experiences. The first room was tiny, the bed was lumpy and uncomfortable, the aircon was so noisy it was unusable, the shower was dirty and any time someone would shut their door the walls would rattle.

The second room was further back in the hotel, it was quiet, the bed was hard but comfortable, the bathroom could have been cleaner and the aircon noise was a dull rumble.

The staff are nice, the location is great (2 blocks from all the restaurants/sights) the price is good compared to the rest of Peru but all in all, it's just another average, cheap place to sleep.

Room Tip: ask for a quiet room at the back

My wife and I stayed on our first night and last night in Iquitos. The rooms were small but comfortable and reasonably priced. The staff was exceptional. Our only problem was when we stayed on a Saturday night (no fault of the hotel) as an area disco stays open until 3 am and is extremely loud. The disco we understand is open on Fridays and Saturdays. The hotel is also concerned about this and asked us for a letter outlining our concern.
A good place to say and close to everything.

We stayed in a room for 3 on the top floor. It had 2 windows, fans, and a good cross breeze, and everything was very clean. It cost 90 soles, which seems like a great deal, especially because the hotel is just off the Plaza de Armas and central to everything. I also had great experiences with the front desk staff.

We stayed here back in November. It was hot and humid. The fan in our room wasn't fantastic, but certainly adequate. They have AC if you want to pay more for it. We didn't as we were just staying two nights. The staff was nice and friendly and the room was a little cheaper (5 soles less?) than at El Colibri. There are two places named La Casona, they are related, and right across the street from each other. One is cheaper than the other. Room was good sized as was the bathroom. Pretty sure the showers weren't heated but we were fine with that. Wifi worked fine. Great location.

it isn't as clean as it should be for the price. it's priced like a low-end hotel would be, but the cleanliness of the 1st floor rooms are more like the cleanliness of most hostels you will find in the area. you could save a lot more money staying in a hostel. i have stayed at la casona 3 times, each time the computers in the lobby were slow or not working. they have a nice seating area with plants and a pet bird, which is nice, as well as the artwork. however everytime i have stayed there, the sheets have smelled dirty and it appears they haven't been changed. i have had to ask for my sheets to be changed, and once the "clean" sheets that were put on the bed also smelled dirty. this is the kind of problem i have found with several low end hostels in Peru, but for the price of staying at La Casona, you should expect to have clean sheets! to give an example, a 10 or 15 sole a night hostel is where I have found unchanged sheets and dingy bedding. otherwise, the location of La Casona is a definite good thing about staying here.

Room Tip: ask to see it first
