“Very nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012

This hotel was selected by our tour provider and I must say, it was much nicer than I expected. The staff was friendly and were able to assist in English. The rooms were not luxurious but were still very nice. The bed was comfortable and we could drink the water. Breakfast was included in the stay and they did a very nice buffet with a lot of choices. The hotel is a few blocks from the main square, not a bad walk unless your legs have climbed so many hills during the trip that they rebel at the slight incline. For that situation taxis were very cheap and plentiful. The crafts market right across the street was very nice with some good products.
The only complaint was the lack of wifi in the room and the TV speakers were really really tinny sounding. But since TV wasn't the focus of the trip, I just turned it off at night.
Oh, and just beware that you will be accosted by every souvenir and art vendor possible when you step out of the hotel and at every tourist spot. Take a lot of crisp $1 bills

Room Tip: I had an inside view of the courtyard. My friend had a view of a very noise street. I think I pref...

Stayed 3 nights in this hotel: 1 night in a double room (#320) and 2 nights in a single room (#343).

Positive
• Bathrooms are small but adequate and adequately stocked. Towels are good.
• Room (320): Spacious. Room has window (to the outside)
• Beds and pillows excellent
• Free coca tea in lobby (but this is usual for hotels in Peru that are at high altitude)

Negative
• Rooms in this hotel have very spartan furnishings
• Room (320): One of the two chairs was almost broken. View into a shaft.
• Room (343) did not have window to the outside but to an inside floor so it was not safe to open the window and the room got stuffy. Room is a long way from the lobby.
• Rooms do not have a minibar and thus no refrigerator to store stuff.
• Bathrooms do not have any hook(s)
• TVs were small and out-dated. The sound on some stations was not good and, therefore, hard to understand
• Walls are very thin. One night I had to listen to the neighbor’s TV until 1 PM. Could hear occupants even several rooms away.
• Breakfast has good choices but eggs are very watery and tasteless. Sausages inedible. Spicy chicken wings for breakfast?
• Printer was unable to print the bar code on the boarding pass.

Nice, spacious hotel with modern, spacious, comfortable rooms. Staff helpful, food fine. Coca tea free of charge in lobby.

Stayed twice. First time on second floor everything fine. Second time on ground floor next to lobby where staff started hoovering and making noise at 5 am and never shut up again (shame as the room was wonderful and led onto a lovely courtyard).

But not as close to town centre as I would have liked - only 10 mins walk but on a hill with altitude sickness that's not so easy.

This is a big hotel with a lot of rooms. The staff is kindly friendly but they don't speak very good english. The guy who took our luggages didn't hesitate to have a look on our name and adress which where written on the luggage. I think that he has to be less curious. The room was big but it was very cold during the night. We had to take the taxi to go to the center of Puno.

This is a great and moderately priced hotel in Cusco. It is in the lower part of the Avenida del Sol, away from the business of the Plaza de Armas and all the tourist traffic, yet within walking distance of the center, Koricancha, and other attractions. It is a great location.

The rooms are good size, with a nice bed. The bathroom has a large shower instead of a bathtub, which made it extra nice. There is a small safe in the room to keep passports and documents, but it was too small for the laptop. The front desk can keep other objects secure.

Our stay in this hotel was in two segments, with a gap to go to Machupicchu. During the trip to Machupicchu the hotel kept our luggage in a secured location, which was a very nice service. Upon return we got a different room with an even larger bathroom. The only problem was that the Wifi signal did not reach the second room. It did not make much difference, since the Internet access in the hotel was just good for email but not for Skype.

The breakfast buffet was excellent, with a large variety of food, to suit both the local taste and the international traveler. And the service was excellent, replenishing the buffer constantly. The lobby also has a station for free "Mate de Coca" so you can better fight the altitude sickness.

Our tourist bus picked us up in front of the hotel. Since the Avenida del Sol is only two lanes in each direction, the bus cannot stop there very long. Better be ready before the bus comes. By the way, in spite of the generally chaotic driving, the drivers in Cusco are courteous and avoid honking except when absolutely necessary. This made the hotel very quiet in spite of being located in Avenida del Sol.

There is a supermarket across the street, and several nearby restaurants, as well as an artisan center (i.e. shops for tourists) across the plaza.

No question I am coming back to this hotel next time in Cuzco.

Room Tip: Rooms on the first patio have better Wifi access. The back patio does not have much Wifi signal.

I stayed at the Eco Inn for four nights and was very comfortable. It is not, however, a four star hotel. For the sake of my U.S. readers, the Eco Inn is compatible to staying at a Holiday Inn Express. The rooms were standard, with double beds. Both the bathroom and hotel room were large by comparison to rooms I had stayed in elsewhere in Peru. Housekeeping was average - sheets were clean and floors were swept, but I would have liked my bathroom scrubbed regularly and floors mopped. The rooms don't have A/C (not needed at 11,000 feet up!) but do have space heaters in the room. I only used the heater once on a particularly chilly night, however most nights were warm enough that the blankets on my bed worked well for a comfortable night's sleep. Service was good, but the hotel was quite busy so the staff was unable to give it that personal touch. I did however get assistance with my luggage and laundry service was good (laundry prices were reasonable as well). The hotel is built in a courtyard fashion, so be aware that courtyard facing rooms are noisy (especially if the room is facing the lobby!!!). Breakfast is amazing!!! So many options and plenty of well-made home cooked warm dishes to choose from. There was also an omelet station (my personal favorite). The location is great because it is down the street the from the Plaza de Armas. This is good for two reasons: the Plaza is busy and loud both day and night AND the price for Eco Inn is a better value since it is set away from the main attraction of the city. The walk to the plaza will also afford you the ability to walk by and visit Coricancha (The Temple of the Sun). If you do take a taxi, the front desk will get you the most reasonable taxi rates. Have them book the taxi rather than hailing one yourself.

Room Tip: Request a room that does not face the lobby or the street.

In June of 2012 went to Cuzco. Booked the trip in USA online with Nuevas Fronteras Peru. We like this agency because they seem to be real responsive and helped to customize a package tour of 4 nights and 5 days. Long story short...DO NOT USE Nuevas Fronteras PERU for anything use Go2Peru.com...anyway this hotel was not planned for our first night and the local tour operator Karim Carrillos had us stay here. It is a very nice hotel. we were three so we had a sitting room that had a full size bed and then the bedroom with 2 full size beds. Flat Screen TV in bedroom. Small balcony in sitting room. It is a corner room so internet doesn't work well in the bedroom.

Room Tip: If you want strong wifi in the room don't get the corner rooms.
