“Great base for exploring Cusco”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

This is a really nice hotel, probably more like 3.5 stars than 3. I stayed here as part of a group booking, both to and from Aguas Calientes/Macchu Picchu. Very comfortable and stylish, well appointed great spacious rooms. Nice lobby area, with large comfy chairs, and coca tea readily on hand. Very nice downstairs dining area - I also was able to buy water there out of hours. Fairly easy walking distance to Plaza de Armas and many Cusco attractions, through the old cobbled streets. Street facing rooms can be quite noisy in the mornings, I suggest avoiding these if possible, or bringing earplugs.

Great and polite service, and a generally well organized place - baggage that was left here during the trip to Macchu Picchu was actually all placed in the correct rooms on the return of our group. Internet access was a bit flaky, with only one of two public access computers working during my stay, wireless only worked in the lobby and restaurant.

As a minor downside, if you want to use a phone card from your room, all calls have to be put through from reception. Also they do not permit dialing of reverse charge/trunk calls. A bit bizarre perhaps?! Ok, this is a provincial (but touristic) area of South America, but this is only the place where I have run into this issue! The rest of the hotel is quite modern.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for an interior room, preferably facing the courtyard - rooms facing the street te...

Better than the four star in puno. 10 minute away from plaza De armas by foot.
The last night we got a site with jacuzzi. Pity we had the room only for six hours then.

Nearby the is a shop where you can buy water and snacks.

The room was big and the beds were comfortable. Everything was very clean though there was some mold in the bathroom. It's about 7-8 minutes walk from the Plaza de Armas on a quiet street. The breakfast was nice. They also have a pleasant terrace/open-air-museum/meditation room at the ground floor where you can rest for a while, read a book or just watch the hummingbirds that come from time to time in the garden.

There's no lift so you have to carry the luggage up the stairs (there's also a bellboy that seems to help with this but he's not always around and if you don't want to wait you have to do it yourself)

A very charming hotel. The service is outstanding, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are clean with clean and comfortable bedding! Walking distance to main square and markets. If in Cusco again, I would definitely stay there again.

Small enough to provide excellent personal service, the Taypikala is located within easy walking distance to the main square and several markets. Beautiful gardens, fountains and antique textiles and artwork add to the décor of this luxury hotel. The restaurant happily alters its schedule to accommodate late arrivals or early departures for sightseeing trips and the food is both healthy and delicious. The staff is attentive and ever-helpful with knowledgeable information and directions to nearby sights.

Room Tip: No elevators but only 3 floors and staff will move your luggage. 3rd floor room was spacious and qui...

A wonderful hotel in a wonderful location in Cusco. Close to downtown shopping, the square and cathedrals. I highly recommend staying here if you're coming to Cusco. The food is amazing and the staff are very friendly.

We stayed at this hotel twice during a recent trip to Peru. Great location, just a short walk to the town square. The food was good also. The staff was friendly. Very peaceful courtyard to read and meditate.
