“wonderful in every way.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2009

our stay here was excellent. the staff is friendly, reliable, and helpful. phillipe is a great guy who is always willing to help and give tips for the best restaurants and other interesting locations. he helped book a taxi driver who drove us around the sacred valley and stopped at several ruins along the way to ollantaytambo. we were picked up from the airport upon arrival and had everything arranged for all of our departures. there is hot water, breakfast served in the morning, and tea waiting for you at any hour. in addition, the location is excellent. the san blas area is a wonderful place to stay. there are plenty of things to do/see and you are not far from the plaza de armas, which allows you to visit the many places to eat and purchase goods from along the way.

Cant speak more highly of this place, spent quite a few nights here - before and after Inka treck and visiting Puno, and each time it was like coming home!
A warm welcome, good breakfast and spotlessley clean comfy rooms all at a reasonable rate.
Would highly recommend!

My initial contact and emails were quickly and thoroughly answered by the owners Phillippe and Melanie. They were very helpful in planning our stay in Cusco. When we arrived in Cusco our taxi driver had a very difficult time finding it. The easiest thing to do is find the Iglesia San Blas and it is one block behind and to the left of the church.

The rooms are very comfortable and clean with a local Peruvian décor. The bathroom sink has only cold water, but the hot water in the shower was fine. No heat in the rooms except for a kerosene clay oven. It does get cold at night but they provide many blankets. The breakfast is simple but adequate with eggs to order, fruit, bread, juice and coffee.

It is a short 10 minute walk downhill to the Plaza Des Armas (but a steep walk uphill back) with many shops and restaurants along the way.

The staff and owners were very helpful to provide suggestions on what to see and where to eat.

The only thing I didn’t like was a few doors down was a noisy bar that had live music playing long into the night.

Great location, accommodations and great value but they only accepted cash for payment

We recently stayed at Casona Les Pleiades and found them great. Phillipe the owner and his staff (especiallay Edith) couldn't do enough for us. They were very helpful and gave us lots of tips on things to see, places to eat, etc. They made us feel very welcome when we arrived and loaded us up on Coca tea to help with altitude sickness. Nothing was too much trouble.

We found the rooms great. They were clean, comfortable and well decorated. We were also able to securely store our gear while we were on our Machu Picchu trek.

Loved the free internet and the laundry service was also very helpful.

The location of Les Pleiades is also excellent. The San Blas area is quiet but still walking distance to the central area of Cusco. There are also plenty of great restaurants very close by (be sure to visit Granja Heidi, Jacks and Pachapapas).

Overall, this property was excellent. We highly recomend it.

We were disappointed with this property. The owners were both away for a month or more - I think their presence is usually important at a B & B. Only one staff member had passable English but our main problem with this property was the lack of heating. The only heating available in the room was a little sterno type unit that was totally inadequate and unhealthy. Four blankets on the bed were not a good substitute. There was also no hot water in the sink, only the shower. When we moved to another property in Cusco, we found that cold water only sinks seems to be a characteristic of Cusco lower to mid-priced hotels.

I guess the price level was too good to be true - I do expect heating to be available.

Dear guest,

thank you for your review, as it is important for us to hear the feedback of our guests in order for us to improve our services.
Regarding your comment on lack of heating, we have used a traditional heating system that is used by local people and thought it was a charming alternative to a regular electric heater. However, we have decided to put electric heaters (central heating did not exist when we renovated the house) in each room to allow for better heat diffusion. Moreover, on your beds you do have two down comforters (not heavy) and 2 extra blankets for extra bed warmth.
Regarding our staff linguistic ability, they have improved their English skills, but we do prefer to hire staff who are trustworthy, friendly and dedicated to our guests, than persons who are not but with a better English.

We hope that you still enjoyed your stay in Cusco.

Best, Philippe

PS: this late reply might surprise you but we just found out that we a right to reply.

Four of us just got back from Peru, and we are still talking about how delightful a stay (two stays actually: two nights before and one night after a visit to Machu Picchu) we had at Casona les Pleiades.

It has all the things you are looking for: spotless rooms, hot water, comfortable beds, nice breakfast, safe and convenient location only a few blocks from Plaza de Armas. In addition, Philippe and his staff were charming and helpful in every way. Philippe suggested a couple of restaurants for us, and both were fantastic. He is always ready to point you in the right direction for the day - tours, restaurants, etc. They truly make you feel at home.

Also, for those that actually want to watch TV while in Cuzco (better things to see and do I think), there are TVs in the rooms, with an extensive viewing list. A lovely internal courtyard to relax in, as well as a little TV/reading lounge, and a nice breakfast room, where in the morn you'll find tea, coffee, juice, breads, jams, and Philippe ready to make a fruit salad for you, or fry up an egg.

Language was not an issue, as the staff speaks English and Spanish.

Another review mentioned a noisy nightclub down the street, but that has been closed down - due to the noise.

This is truly a lovely place to stay. Philippe has created a lovely, quiet oasis in San Blas.

Walking into this place, you'd think you were in some kind of resort hotel. Very clean and well kept. Staff there could not be nicer. There are private showers and toilets in the rooms, and even tv with about 90 channels (I was able to watch every game of the Celtics vs. Lakers finals). They also cook breakfast for you. I would definitely book here if I ever went back to Cusco.
