“beautiful view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2008

Easy to contact and good communication. Our matrimonial room had a beautiful view. Great room with great hot water, clean toilet. We paid $55, which is a lot for Peru, but we didn't want to stay in a sketchy place, so it was great for us. Breakfast was ready at 5:00am, staff was helpful.

Stayed at Hotel Wiracocha at the beginning and end of a trip up the Inca trail to Machu Picchu with friends. Great location with a 5 minute walk to the main square, but the hotel is hard to find at first. The rooms are plenty large and the building is beautiful. They serves an excellent complimentary breakfast each morning and greats you upon arrival with hot mug of coca tea to help with the altitude. The staff were very friendly and when we left for Machu Picchu planning to return 4 days later, they told us to just pay for the rooms when we returned! I will definitely stay again if I return. 4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2006

We stayed at the Wiracocha for four nights in mid-August 2006. We paid US$35 for a room with double bed and private bathroom. The room was comfortable and clean, as well as warm, which is important in Cuzco! There was lots of hot water in the early morning--we had less luck later in the day. The staff were very helpful and were on duty 24h, so you could get up and have the included breakfast (just tea/coffee, rolls, butter and jam were free, but there were a dozen other options including eggs, pancakes, fruit smoothies, etc for a little extra money) at any hour. They arranged a private taxi tour of the area for us with just an hour's notice at a good price. They store luggage securely for free. Their internet access is incredibly cheap and available 24h. The only problem was that we were first put in a room right next to the kitchen, so we were awakened when they started the juicer for those smoothies every morning at 5-6am. When we moved to a different room it was much better (and that room had a huge bathroom with a tub!). TP is provided in the bathrooms. Finally, the location is great--it's just a little way (10min walk) away from the Plaza de Armas, the main tourist square of Cuzco, but in a neighborhood that feels like a real mix of tourists and locals, not just tourists. Try the roasted-chicken restaurant a couple of blocks before the hotel and across the street, Toldos Pollo (IIRC)--amazingly good chicken and an all-Peruvian clientele.
