“OK hotel but with excellent service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

Well located hotel only a short distance from the main attractions of Cusco. The hotel is a bit old and does "shake" at night when cars go by. Breakfast is also relatively average. However, the hotel works really well with the tour operators to deliver tickets, organise pickups, etc. The service level is excellent.

The good points: The hotel is centrally located, and our room was comfortable and clean. ATM on site.

The bad: The noise levels at night are unbelievable! We really needed to sleep at night given our packed schedule, but it was impossible. The floorboards creaked and people were loud. To be fair, I don't know if the noise was due to staff or other guests, but at one point I had to go out into the hallway and ask for people standing there to pipe down. Also, the breakfast was below average.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms near the courtyard or on the ground floor.

Great location and decent hotel - but the rooms are really small - we got one with no window looking out - it was dark and claustrophobic. Add altitude sickness on the day you come in, poor mattresses and it made for a very unpleasant experience. The breakfast area and other common areas are perfectly nice. They also did not accomodate our request for room changes to larger rooms considering we had 10 plus rooms booked with them. Laundary costs were atrocious too.

Dear guest,

Thank you for letting us know your comments about your last stay at Casa Andina Classic Koricancha.

We deeply regret we could not meet your expectations. At Casa Andina, it is our priority to assure our guests’ comfort.

In reference to the size of the rooms, the hotel used to be a colonial house in its time. This is the reason why not too many changes can be made. We are sorry for the distress this may have caused you.

Thank you once again for your impressions and rest assured we will be taken your opinion into consideration.

We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Regards,
The Casa Andina team

A nice little hotel, the staff are helpful and the place is clean and within easy access of the big square and public transport.

No restaurant, just brekkie served daily. ATM on site and cash exchange also available.

WiFi available and there are computers available too if you need it. The place is old, but maintained. Comfy beds. I had a room far away from the main street and it was really peaceful. I managed to sleep through from being quite sick with altitude sickness. Can get a little stuffy as ventilation in the room was limited without leaving the windows open.

The hotel was good but not great. The rooms we had no windows and the noise from hallways and rooms above were at times so loud you could follow conversations. At 6 am my husband had to go out in the hallway to ask the staff to be quiet as we were still trying to sleep. The head room in rm 121 was ridiculous unless you are under five foot five. And there was only room for one suitcase in the "double" room. The breakfast were good, your standard fair of scrambled eggs, buns or toast, yogurt, fruit and juice coffee/tea, cheese and ham. It is centrally located, so makes walking around easy. Would have loved to have checked out other hotels to compare.

This hotel is only 3 stars but I have stayed in much better 3 stars.

Perhaps we were unlucky to have received one of the worst rooms in the hotel, but my husband would not let me complain and seek a better one. We stayed in two other Casa Andina chain hotels in Lima and Sacred Valley and they were wonderful.

big gripe- our room had a window that opened onto the corridor. That was the only window. So we could not open the curtains because people were constantly walking past or open a window because all conversations could be heard.

Claustrophobic and mean spirited room. It was a basic kind of room like in a backpackers hostel. No storage space, too small to walk around with our cases on the floor. Yuck.

The breakfasts were probably OK for one morning, but after 3 mornings it was boring. EAting outside on a nice morning much better than inside in the dinky little dining room.

On complaint we got a bottle of water in the room each day, otherwise it was pay for water.

The bathroom was fine, if dimly lit, and the bed was also OK quality. I did not sleep well as I was constantly awakened by people entering their rooms in our corridor and getting up at 5 am for early flights.

The best aspect is the location, walkable to most places. I suspect that for the money you could do better in Cusco.

I also think Casa Andina needs to reconsider if they keep such a low standard hotel as part of the chain.

Dear guest,

Thank you for sharing your comments in regards to your last stay at our Classic Koricancha, Cusco.

We are deeply sorry for not meeting your expectations. As you know, Casa Andina Classic is one of the three brands of the chain; Classic hotels offer the travelers the basics to have a comfortable stay without neglecting service kindness.

In reference to the infrastructure of the hotel, this used to be a colonial house in its time. This is the reason why not too many changes can be made. We are sorry for the discomfort this may have caused you.

Once again, we really appreciate sharing your impressions with us and other travelers. Be sure we will take them into account for future improvements.

We hope we have another opportunity to serve you again.

Kind regards,
The Casa Andina team

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012 via mobile

Stayed 2 nights at the hotel and was greeted by friendly staffs. The location is quite near to the main plaza. The hotel provide free coca tea at the reception area, which helps to relieve high altitude sickness. They also provide oxygen in case you feel giddy or headache. Free wifi is a bonus to me. Overall a nice stay.
