“The most welcoming place in Cusco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2011

We were met at the airport as scheduled. Cusi Wasi could mean worry free, as they took care of everything. We had train tickets to Machu Picchu, but were having problems getting return tickets. Not a problem, Cusi Wasi got them for us. We saw a five-hour bus tour of Cusco we wanted and the bus was picking us up at 1:30 PM at the hotel. Taxi to Ollantaytambo? Hotel Cusi Wasi arranged a reasonable fare in a very nice taxi. They took care of payment and we paid Cusi Wasi at the end. The hotel is lovely and very personable. The only complaint, and it is minor, is that the rooms are not well sound proofed. Breakfast was excellent and cooked to order and you pick your time to eat, so it is never crowded.

The hotel is about 5 blocks from Plaza de Armas and the main square. We stayed out late and it was 3 Soles back to the hotel.

We had a great stay and will stay again if we are in Cusco.

This hostel was clean and cute. The rooms were comfortable and the heater was truly appreciated. A really cool thing about this hostel is the tour company that operates from it as well. I made our booking on Instant World Booking and then I realised i could book all our tours in both Cusco and Puno. Bianca from Cusi Wasi made all our bookings and accomodation for Cusco, Aguas Calientes, Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley, Puno and Lake Tiiticaca. she even organised our tickets on the Inca Express from Cusco to Puno. We were picked up and delivered wherever we needed to go and the drivers, guides, staff at the hostel and everyone invovled in this operation were friendly and helpful. The hostel is a bit of a walk to the Plaza de Armas but that would be the only drawback ..... we enjoyed the walk but at the end of a night out, in below zero temperatures, the uphill walk was challenging. Cusi Wasi was excellent - we love staying there.

We chose this hotel using trip advisor. Knowing there are hostels for around 10$ a night, I figured 45$ a night at a TA recommended place would get us a good basic hotel.

The team was great, very helpful and attending, one of which also speaks good English, but everyone did their best to accommodate our needs.

The rooms were nice, pretty basic. The first room we stayed at was able to contain our open suitcase and let us move freely in the room, the second was smaller. The rooms were rather clean, but I did see hairs on the floor, and some stains on the towel (probably just don't get off during laundry). About the hot water, 2 things: the water pressure was not so good and the water were sometimes warm and not hot. Don't get me wrong, you could shower, but it wasn't a lot of fun.

Amenities: airport pick up was great, the wifi was awesome, good reception everywhere and never dropped. The breakfast was nice: tea/coffee, egg (one), juice, pita bread, butter and jam. The common area was really cute, charming. We ordered 'room service' and they delivered huge portions! Their laundry service was 5 sol per 1kg and we were happy with the results.

All in all, nice place. I feel like with a rather minor effort they can take it one notch up (take care of the shower heads/water pressure) and clean the rooms better.

Cusi Wasi is a completely charming and very welcoming hostel. It is located 10 minutes walk from the Plaza the Armas, the Plaza San Francisco and the central market. Welcome was very pleasant and the employees were always attentive to our needs and have met very well.

Our room was of adequate size. It was located at the lower ground floor, overlooking the terrace so a little noisy in the morning. The hot water was not a problem, but the bathroom was wet!

The hotel is very clean, whether it is, the dining room, the internal terrace, the reception or the bedroom. Breakfasts were varied and very good. Free mate de coca or tea was always available. The kitchen was also available, which was very helpful. Free Internet was functionnal.

I encourage you to stay there without hesitation.

This nice hostal is lying a few blocks from the Plaza the Armas. I felled welcome from the first moment. The name "Cusi Wasi" means "Happy house" and that's what we feeled from the first minute. We get a "mate de coca" when we arrived in the hostal after they picked us up from the airport.
Every morning they make a nice breakfast after we took a good hot shower. They've even a small heaters available in the nice and clean rooms.
The WiFi is free and you can relax in the day and the evening in the patio after a tour or walk. It has a nice climate in the patio with flowers and plants because the roof is from glass that create a warm micro climate in the sometimes cold evenings in Cusco. You can use the hosalkitchen to make a tea or cafe or to cook your own meal.
The personnel is friendly and very helpful. The reception spoke English and helped my to book the well organised tours to the Valle Sagrado and Machu Picchu.
The panorama of Cusco from the topfloor is very beautifull.
If you want to have value for money for a hostal in Cusco, I would recomend this hostal to everybody.

Room Tip: Corner rroms are a bit small
