“Tons of fun in Africa in Peru”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had

Think Jaz-Z Toto Africa remix. Tons of fun, great dance space, good music (think top 40), lots of alpaca sweaters and expat men, 4 AM nights #goodtimes

“Nice but expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013 via mobile

We went on the busiest day of the year (Inti Raymi) and it was packed. People went crazy dancing on tables and everywhere and the vibe was really good with a nice blend of locals and tourists.

Now to the downside: if you are like me used to european type of clubs you will be dissapointed. They mix the worst music there is with no feeling and as commercial as it can get. The sound is not very good either.

The other thing is the prices in the bar. 11 soles for a small beer is insane!!!!! They have happy hour 2x1 drink to 00.00 and after that 20 soles for each drink.

For people with no special taste in music, go there. Otherwise stay away!!!

“Fun staff, good music.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

I just got back from Peru and had spent quite a bit of my time at Mama Africa! Its really fun, whether you want to get crazy and dance on the bar or for just having a seat with some friends and some good drinks. The drinks are cheap, strong and yummy. Tourists get free entrance (just like every other club). Ask doormen for a free drink ticket on your way in. There was a perfect mix here of locals and tourists. A lot of tourists are super annoying and drunk sometimes but you'll find that everywhere. They have a guy there from Colombia who does face painting and he's really good :) The bathrooms there are pretty clean compared to most bars in Cusco, and there's free coat check. The DJ is really good and the staff are super friendly :) Have fun! Definately check it out if you're in the area.

“I had some of my best moments here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013

I was with such a good crowd of people so I guess it's highly subjective when it comes to nightlife experience - just like anywhere in the world really.

Anyway Mama Africa is one of the most popular night clubs in Cusco. When I was there they had free Salsa class pretty much every evening. Be there early though - the free Salsa class only takes place for an hour and the instructor wants to teach it before the club starts to get too crowded (for obvious practical reason) so the class usually starts at around 7 or 8pm.

Staff here are friendly and helpful. Many travellers come here as well as local Peruvians so a good place to meet people too if that's what you are looking for.

Make sure you speak some basic Spanish in order to buy drinks.

“Did not have good time”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

Went here twice and booth times it was not really good at all, had some problems with locals aswell that was really unfriendly really for no reasons, that happened the booth times. The place is pretty small and not really busy when we where there anyway. So yeah, my experience was not really good, only thing is that we didt really enjoy any of the other places that much either... And was at the moment travelling with 6-7 girls and they had a hard time with locals acting pretty bad at these clubs aswell.
