“THANK YOU DRAGONFLY”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2014

Such a good stay in Dragonfly Cusco.
All the staff is really helpfull and friendly.
My room was clean. Toilets and showers also.
It offers lot of services: breakfast, laundry, wi-fi, tours...The hostel is well situated, at only 3 mins of the main square by walking!
An event each day in the patio: Barbecue, handrafted beer degustation (great beer and great burgers). Good atmosphere and it's not noisy. It's easy to meet and share with other backpackers.
I recommend this hostel. Great experience.

Pros: My bro and I stayed at the hostel for 3 nights. We came in late because of flight delays and after asking about tours we were immediately whisked off to a city tour. The tour was more than we expected, we visited 5 sites and at the end a little exhausted. In the end it all worked out, the receptionist Yenny and Grace made our stay enjoyable providing us with space heater. There's continental breakfast which is bread, butter, jam and cocoa tea all free and you make your own. Internet all over the hostel so we were online checking out restaurants etc. for breakfast I recommend Jacks Cafe it's one block north of Plaza Mayor - amazing American breakfast with a Peruvian touch.

Cons: Mattresses were too hard and the soft one had a sink hole.

Overall a great place to stay near Plaza Mayor, restaurants, ATM's and bars/nightlife

We stayed at Dragonfly in Cusco as we had stayed at their hostel in Lima. They were both good, clean hostels with friendly staff in a good location. We especially enjoyed the Choripan (chorizo sandwich) which they did a few nights a week for 5 sol.

I cancelled my earlier booking with Cusco Packers Hostel to stay at Dragonfly and despite the slight cancellation fee, I do not regret it. The staff are well-versed in decorative chalk drawings and interior decoration. Julien is an expert DIY maker, he made a bar table with hand-drawn recipes and a glass table for the TV room. I had the pleasure of Maria's first Pisco Sour and it couldn't have been better.

The rooms are impeccable. They use the old-fashioned padlock & key combination that added to the rustic atmosphere. I especially liked that they have a private room (shared toilet) for solo travelers. I found the alpaca quilt to be sufficiently warm, though heater rental is available for S/.10. There is a female-only shared shower which was rarely used. There is enough bathrooms for everyone.

At night, the bar opens till 11pm and after that, there is a no noise policy so I didn't have to worry about drunk-crowd noises (unlike Loki or Wild Rover). A great place for meeting people from all walks of life, rowdiness is rarely present.

The hostel is only 5 minutes walk away from Plaza de Armas, which equals security and ease of services. It's also a great starting point for the walk to Cristo Blanco.

I was able to keep my bag here while doing the 4D3N Inca Trail , no charge. At the end, I also left something at the hostel and Grace offered to mail it to me. Can't find better service anywhere else!

Dear Tricia,

All the staff join me to tell you thanks for your kindly review. As you said we improve all time our hostels to give the best to our guest with colorfull and friendly atmosphere.

The staff of Dragonfly hostels knows it’s important when you travel alone to meet people around the world and you catch perfectly these, we do some events like bbq to share together our experience of travel, but also as you say we cut the music and closed our bar at 11.00pm, so that everyone can have good night of sleep in our warm beds to reach the famous Machu Picchu same if the early the morning.

Have a safety travel and hope to see you again in our hostels you will be received like at home.

We stayed here 3 times before/after our trips from Cusco in private double rooms (w/ bathrooms).

Pros:
* Super friendly staff- Julien and Grace in particular- they were so helpful with all our questions and always welcomed us back. We felt like it was our home away from home!
* Great location a couple of streets away from Plaza de Armas and close to great restaurants.
* The upstairs private rooms are spacious, comfortable & warm beds and the shower is HOT 24/7. It was perfect after the cold showers on our tours. Also WiFi works great in the courtyard, a bit patchy in the rooms.
* A great courtyard where you can socialise during the day/night and a bar open until 11pm. This is perfect for getting to know people if you want to but also getting an excellent night of sleep. There is 24 hr reception so you can go out of the hostel drinking and come back in anytime.

Cons:
* The downstairs private room we stayed in on our first night was right next to the courtyard noise and the bathroom was very cramped. Would suggest requesting the upstairs privates!
* The breakfast was bread and jam, with free hot drinks. Eggs/cereal would be much appreciated, especially before a 4 day hike.

Overall would recommend! Thanks for a great stay :)

Room Tip: Ask for a private room upstairs - no noise and bigger bathroom

Dear,

Thank you for your review and your stay at the Dragonfly Hostels Cusco,
We are so happy that you enjoy your stay with us.

We do our best for our guest feel like at home; we know and understand it is not so easy when you are far away from your country. So is our Staff mission to help you to know better Perú and understand its culture so you can feel like at home.

We are also improving our facilities all the time for your comfort (Hot Showers 24/7 / Wifi / Kitchen facilities / Tv Room).

All these facilities have a pleasant atmosphere like our bar where you can also have fun with other travellers. Quiet hours are after 11pm so everybody is heading to the many bars or nightclubs that are just a few blocks from the hostel.

Our breakfast is also improving with 3 new kind of fresh Bread. Like always our fresh orange or pineapple juice and our many hot drinks including organic coffee and chocolate tea are on the table for you to enjoy. We will continue improving it.

About the room in the courtyard, it’s true that is a little noisier. For that reason we close the bar at 11pm and the music and light are off but our guest are welcome to go anywhere and comeback at any time as the reception is open the 24 hours.

We are glad to read your review so we can improve more. We hope to see you in Cusco once more.
