“Perfect choice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2014 via mobile

We stumbled across El Grial by accident and it was all we could have asked for! Amira was a perfect hostess; kind, attentive and helpful. Our room was large, bright and comfortable. The breakfast was extensive and good. The location is a delightful cobbled alley without traffic but close enough to everything you could want. We felt it was excellent value. Thank you for a fabulous stay!

Staff was very friendly and when they were fully booked they helped us to find another place to stay. Breakfast was basic, but fine. Room had a nice hot shower. The patio was a bit noisy when people were walking the stairs.

The staff at El Grial is so helpful and friendly we decided to spend Christmas with them! We stayed here twice on our journey and Amira (especially) made every effort to help us with every aspect of our trip. The advice was always accurate and enormously helpful. The standard of service and cleanliness is very high, just what you would expect from meticulous inn-keepers who quickly become trusted friends. (One issue, and this is true everywhere we stayed upon approach to Machu Picchu: because of departure times for Machu Picchu, check-out times are 10am. This is pretty surprising to a lot of travelers even though it is stated clearly. You might want to ask if you can get a late checkout when you make your arrangements.) You'll love the warm blankets, the friendly lobby, and the wonderful breakfast that is included in the price of the room. And you never have to go more than 3 blocks away for a great meal. Every doorway seems to reveal another atmospheric spot serving fantastic local food. Also: the wifi works, the juice is fresh-squeezed, eggs to order....

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a window. Some have stunning views over town.

We traveled Peru for two weeks and this was by far our favorite hostal. The price is very reasonable and the service is outstanding. They speak English, offer breakfast in the room rate and provide a wealth of knowledge about the city and region. Rooms are basic but they have hot water and a safe in every room. BEST Wi-Fi in all the hostal we stayed at. We were very pleased with the accommodations. We left for a few days to visit Machu Picchu, upon our return we felt like we were home.

The Hostal El Grial is a wonderful little oasis in busy Cusco. It is clean, quiet and cozy, but very close to some great restaurants, such as the Green Point - a fabulous vegetarian restaurant. We are very grateful to the owner who went out of her way to help us with a stray dog that we found on the day before our return flight. Thanks to her the dog is in the care of a rescue group and not on the street! I very highly recommend this hotel for a safe and comfortable stay in Cusco.

My family of three stayed at El Grial for 6 nights. It is a small lovely hotel just up the hill from the Plaza San Blas and close to Plaza de Armas. We enjoyed this place very much. The staff was helpful and friendly, the buffet breakfast was generous, including eggs and there was complimentary tea all day.
Our room was simple but cozy with 3 beds, a beautiful beamed ceiling with a skylight and a gorgeous rooftop view down to the plaza. Everything was kept spotlessly clean.
The hotel kept our big suitcase for a week while we toured around the Sacred Valley. When we got back to Cusco and El Grial, it felt like coming home. Our luggage was waiting for us in the same room.
San Blas is a really special neighborhood with a beautiful little plaza and great shops and restaurants.
I would definitely recommend Hotel El Grial. Our room with a full breakfast was $60.00 US for 3 people. We will return!

With my girlfriend I went to visit Cusco in August 2013. After looking around for a good and affordable hostal we found and decided for El Grial, and were not disappointed. The host, Eloi, was very helpful, for example when he guarded our stuff while we where visiting Puno.

The rooms and general areas were nicely decorated and clean, the breakfast good. Perfect for a short trip to the former capital of Tawantinsuyu.
