if you want a place with character, great views, and quiet, choose El Balcon. It has a great breakfast and we loved the staff. We had some problems with hot water one night, and a poor tv connection another, but just telling them meant it would be fixed and that means everything. The travel agency associated with it, Green Peru Adventures, can offer you great advice and we found Roland to be very knowledgeable and honest about what we could expect and what he recommended. The view from El Balcon is great, it's like living in a garden and museum, quite lovely! We did have an issue with the price creeping up but pointing it out fixed that, just a warning.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Located on a hill three blocks from the Plaza de Armas of the city of Cusco, El Balcon has a commanding view of the entire city, cathedrals, churches, mountains and the Ausangate glacier. El Balcon is a renovated colonial Casona that dates back to the 1630s built atop the preceding Inca terraces. Inca stone work and colonial ballustrades mesh harmoniously around terraced gardens creating an atmosphere that is beautiful, historic and authentically Peruvian. At el Balcon we strive to provide our guests with all that they need and are happy to help with any arrangements that we may provide at this family establishment. We look forward to welcoming you here at the ancient Inca capital of Cusco. ... more less
