“Like a nice Bed and Breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2006

We stayed here two nights - one before and one after our Inka Trail trek. Both nights were in cozy rooms that looked like a nice Bed and Breakfast back home in the states. Both were really clean and the staff was extremely helpful.

On the downside, you have to go up lots of steps to get to the rooms - not too bad unless you aren't aclimitized yet. Also, the plaza is close by and you definately hear all the bars until the wee hours of the night. Last, the power went out for most of one night - good thing we had flashlights to pack for our trip the next day.

Overall, a very good value for the area if you don't want to spend hundreds a night for the Monestario or a couple bucks for a simple hostel.

As a flight attendant, I stay in hotels all over the world, from 5-star luxuries down to flea traps. My favorite are always quaint finds (and the odd 5 star luxury with great pools).

The Royal Inka I definitely fits my idea of a great find.

Right by all of the "action", this hotel is off the main drag enough to offer some tranquility. The hotel is lovely - built on a very old building, with an inside garden.

The staff is fabulous - especially the wonderful gentleman who serves you breakfast! You feel welcome and valued. There is a variety of rooms, though. My 8 year old and I shared a charming room with balcony, my father had a very nice room, but no windows. (yes, "building code" in Peru isn't the same as the States. Though it was quiet... Breakfast is included and is adequate. All in all, I would stay there again without question. Who needs to spend $350 in Cusco? We spent $55/night on a fabulous room with plenty of charm.

Stayed in Cuzco as base for touring. Hotel well located near central Plaza - has neat interior courtyard - stayed in a great room with stairs going up to bedroom level and a balcony with a view of a park and the beautiful buildings of the central square. Good breakfast, courteous helpful staff - free airport transfers.

this is a quaint hotel located on a peaceful square just a block from the Plaza de Armas. Upon arrival, you are greeted by the friendly staff and escorted to the inner courtyard for a cup of coca tea (available complimentary at all times) at your own bistro table. In looking around at the many plants and stone fountain in the courtyard, you get the feeling that you have arrived in Peru during the colonial times. The rooms are small, but comfortable, many having views of the surrounding streets. Please be warned that the street noise can be loud during the evenings. One night, I had to request a different room away from the street. All lead out to the courtyard, where one can enjoy reading a book or writing in a journal to the sound of trickling water. A complimentary breakfast is offered in the restaurant, which had many choices to satisfy different palates. A complimentary airport transfer with an english speaking guide is available if you inform the hotel of the details of your arrival. One can also easily arrange tours of any kind at the hotel. The prices are best when you book on the website, -----.
