“Friendly hotel in good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

We stayed in this hotel as part of our Inca Trail trek. Staff were outstanding, very friendly and cheerful, making everything easy for us. We particularly appreciated the log fire which they lit in the evening in the main communal area. It's a lovely place to stay but some rooms are better than others. Beds were warm and comfortable. San Blas is a great location in Cusco.

Stayed here both before and after the Inca trail with a group tour I was on with Oasis Overland , I liked the breakfast room as it had great views over Cusco , the breakfast was pretty good too. Just a short walk up the hill from the main square, so the location was good , the rooms were very comfortable and clean and the two rooms I stayed in were quite large. The place was having renovations done at the time , so it will be even better when they are finished.

Likes:

The location in San Blas was perfect for restaurants, supermarkets, sightseeing and walking around. Friendly staff in particular Angel and Carlos. Good breakfast with panoramic views of Cusco. Great hot showers and clean recently refurbished rooms. Currently upgrading to become a boutique hotel. Nice garden area.

Dislikes

Noisy rooms especially when trekkers going out early or returning late at night. No heating provided although you can organize them for a fee. Building works were going on whilst we were there.

This was our handsdown cutest hotel stay we've had. The place is all charm and the owner is often present which is always nice. The staff helped us recommend many places to see and eat and we loved every bit of it -- it was a large change from our stay at Casa Cartagena but for our budget it worked very well!

We really liked staying here and found this hotel using booking.com. We are glad we decided to stay here. Our room was clean, the service was very good at the reception, they made great restaurant recomendations (Marcelo Batata, Cicciolina, UCHU, La Bodega 138... etc), and the breakfast was very good. The hardwood floors in the rooms are very nice and so is the fact that they are small but offer big hotel style service.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the rooms with a view. We stayed in room 15 and it was perfect.

We stayed at Tika Wasi several weeks ago for 3 nights and really enjoyed it. The staff were amazingly helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to please. The facility was clean and spacious. We really liked the lounges on each floor. It was a great way to get to know fellow travellers. The courtyard was another great place to relax. Breakfasts were substantial and tasty. Once the renovations are complete there will be even more room to relax and enjoy the facility!

Stay: Sep 2012 - 10 nights

Excellent hotel, well placed in terms of it's location. Very central near the Plaza de Armas, restaurants, bars, cafes, travel offices etc., It's quite a place for trekkers. Meeting visitors from many parts of the world.

This hotel was our base for the 10 day trek to the High Inca Trail. The hotel exceeded our expectations in every aspect.

The Manager Angel ( I suppose for Angelo) together with his staff were all very helpful and accommodating.
Nothing was too much trouble for them. Arranging taxis, take outs, tours, doctor's visits etc., was a breeze.

I will definitely recommend this hotel to any one. One caution - hotel is on a slight incline and may not suit older visitors unless they are fit. (me young 69!)

Room Tip: Rooms facing the garden are the best with an excellent view of Cusco and the Plaza de Armas. Breakf...
