“One of the best cathedral in the world”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2014

The cathedral is really big divided by many sections. Not very touristy so you can pray inside the church and even attend mass daily. The ceilings are high and walls are adorned by old paintings. Lots of statues of Christ, saints etc. Altar was made of two tons of silver. its just sad that you cannot take pictures inside the church

“This is good but not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2014

The cathedral is good to see, however in my opinion it looks better from the outside than inside. However, there are some interesting things to see inside, such as the wooden altar behind the main silver altar. Also some of the artworks have very interesting stories.

“Interesting”

It is quite a big Cathedral in 3 sections. It is pretty & interesting. However you do need to see it with a guide. No Pictures or Video allowed at all

“Las Misas...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2014

For early risers, recommend you quietly and respectfully observe or take part in one of the early morning Mon-Thurs local services (las misas) which are, I believe, at 0630 and 0800....you will see an authentic catholic service with praying, hymns, the Lord's Prayer in Spanish and "peace be with you" embraces with an obviously devout congregation that includes young schoolgirls in catholic uniforms before school to older Peruvians in formal dress....a very moving ceremony to watch regardless of your faith I'd say. The signs will say no tourists and there are certainly no pictures allowed inside, however if you are dressed appropriately and quietly walk through and observe the service you will not be asked to leave by any of the attendants stationed throughout this large cathedral....there were perhaps 6-8 obvious non-Peruvians who enjoyed the beauty of Las Misas and thus avoided the large tourist throngs and entry fees that commence at about 0900 hours.

“Gorgeous church”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2014

Definitely a must see. I attended daily mass several times there, and found it to be such a peaceful way to start the day.
