Owner description: The ruin complex of this military fortress is a superb example of Inca architectural skills since it was made of enormous carved limestone boulders (some weighing more than 300 tons each) that were fit together perfectly without the use of mortar.

“Large site of Inca Walls”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

A large site that can be easily accessed by a short walk from Cusco.
Whilst at this site it is worth visiting, again a short walk, the White Christ statue which is on a hill overlooking the Sacsayhuaman site.

“Interesting Inca Site”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2014

Overlooking the town of Cusco, this is a small Inca site that is well worth a visit. We'd recommend a taxi up and then walking back down to the town.

“Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2014

What an amazing place! The greatness, the mystic environment, the giant stones...The Cusco sight is wonderful. Even though the place is worn, it is still very impressive.

“They tell you that its easy to remember the name Sexy Woman”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2014

A variety of names but listed on the tourist ticket as Saqsayhuaman. We took a tour after reading some of the revues, but felt it was not long enough. The views overlooking Cusco were great. The climbing up and then down and then up again were necessary in order to see parts of the site. It is a very large site and without a guide or some advance reading it would probably be just a bunch of large rocks .There are little or no signs on the site explaining anything. You can walk up to the site but given the elevation of 3,701 m or 12,142 ft its a little exhausting. You can get a taxi to drop you at the highest point on the site and then walk down but there are no hand out pamphlets or guides on site.
These Inca men must have been very strong to have moved all these rocks and arranged them into the fortress that it is.
The only bathrooms are at the entry and the site is large and on a hillside.

“Subdued but interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2014

Quarry/religious Inca site above Cusco. Great examples of Inca rock building skills, but not nearly as varied as Machu Piccu. Not very crowded and you can walk (good luck - uphill) or cab up to it.
