Owner description: The ruin complex of this military fortress is a superb example of Inca architectural skills since it was made of enormous carved limestone boulders (some weighing more than 300 tons each) that were fit together perfectly without the use of mortar.

This is a great acheological site where you can see inca's walls and temples. It certainly has to be in your trip schedule.

“Inca Magic”

This site is an engineering feat. How did they do it? One can only marvel. We had a guide how took us round the site explaining the history and pointing out the various points of interest.

“Great ruin to visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

We really enjoyed this site. Our orient express guide, Darwing, took us here. It is really very interesting. You also get the most amazing view of the city of Cusco. I highly recommend a visit to this unique historic site.

“So much history!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

Don't miss the rock slides - kids had a blast sliding down them. Sacsayhuaman is an impressive ruin as we'd been reading about the demise of the Incas this site had great significance.

“Fascinating Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

We visited Sacsayhauman after seeing Machu Picchu, so anything after that does not resonate as well. Nonetheless, the masonry workmanship and precision of the joints between the rocks is spectacular. It's hard to appreciate what this place looked like in the time before Pizarro. There are also great photo opportunities with local color.
