“Nice location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2012

The hotel is located near the city center square with a short walk to the restaurants and sightseeing locations. We found that the rooms towards the rear were quiet and the hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Room Tip: Get the rooms towards the rear of the hotel

This hotel is located on a busy main street - good location - but the rooms all have a different reason to be noisy - none of which involve the street noise! Overlook the lobby and the talking and laughing (4-5-6 am) are loud. Overlook nothing and there are buzers ringing, cleaning carts scraping the floors, elevator shaft noise, people above you walking on uncarpeted, thin floors and who knows where else the other noises came from? I thought I was on Candid Camera.

Room Tip: Speak to the front desk to see if they even have one.

We were exhausted by the time we arrived back from Machu picchu and arrived at this hotel at 7pm. The hotel was very comfortable and we had a lovely meal at the hotel restaurant as we were too exhausted to go out for dinner. The rooms were fine, nothing fancy but clean and very comfortable. The location is fantastic, it is a shame that our trip to cusco was so rushed as it is such a beautiful city.

I stayed at this hotel twice. Once before my trek and and once after my trek. I had a room facing the street on my first stay and it can be noisy during the day and early evening. On my second stay i requested a room at the back and this was very quite. The hotel is very well located and only a short walk away from the Plaza which is where most of the restaurants are located or around there. The staff were helpful and the hotel was clean and the room was a reasonable size.
Would highly recommend a stay here.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the main street as it can be noisy during the day and early evening.

I stayed 3 nights in a room on the 3rd floor facing the courtyard. The first two nights weren't bad except for some noise in the courtyard, but on the 3rd night a group of people were having a party or a late night dinner with music, and it was very noisy.

However, the location was ideal. Main square was only 2 blocks away and all the major landmarks of the city (including the cathedral, San Pedro market, San Blas church and Koricancha) were within walking distance. Unfortunately, the front office staff had little local knowledge. They couldn't tell us where the tourist information centre was. We were directed to the tourist centre of the city council and they kindly sent us to the right place.

When we were in Cusco, there was a beautiful cultural show in the Native Arts Centre down the same street (Avenue El Sol). It was a free event with great music and folklore dances and we really enjoyed it. They had performances every evening, but I am not sure whether they run the show all year round. Better check out if you are visiting. I am sure you will love it.

POSITIVE
- Location: central, walking distance to all restaurants, bars and Cusco attractions
- Rooms: large single bads (like to double beds)
- Cleanness: although a simple hotel, its very clean
- Room service: very clean and well done
- Noise: very calm, rooms give to the back and you dont hear any noise at all

NEGATIVE
- No blindex in the bathroom
- No heater in the rooms (so watch out coz during the evening it can get as low as zero degrees in any season)
- Breakfast: better than European hotels in general, equivalent to a 2 star hotel in the US/Canada
- Service: if you come with an open spirit you will find it alright. If you compare it to hotels in the US, Canada or some good quality service oriented hotels, you will be disappointed. Very polite staff but they are not prepared for any sort of unconventional situations. We needed oxygen in the room right after we arrived (given the altitude) and we had to call our guide to arrange it.

The hotel was very busy during the days we were there - before and after our trip to the Inca Trail. We got a small room, but well cleaned and with all facilities working properly. As mos people noticed, its location is very convenient, allowing you to walk to most attractions within the city.
Front desk staff were very helpful, able to provide information every time we asked.
Breakfast was good, except for the eggs - for some reason scrambled eggs in Cuzco and in Vale Sagrado tasted fishy. As the hotel was busy, there were short lines to get food from the buffet.
