“Average, very clean nice staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

This hotel is pretty average. The staff was great. The rooms were very clean. Breakfast was good. we spent 2 nights there in rooms around the courtyard. They were old but remodeled.
The doors did not shut tight makign the room noisy. The bathroom had been remodeled with a great jacuzzi tub, however it did not hold the water. Since I was there one night and I decided to try it rather late, I did not attempt to get somebody up to the room to fix it. I like the courtyard. As soon as we arrived they offered us tea which is a nice touch. They also locked up our bags while we visited Machu Picchu and they were safely returned to us. So all and all an ok place to stay and close to the action.

Room Tip: Perhaps the newer section would be less noisy ? Our room's door was not tight there were cracks...

The courtyard of the building is beautiful and historic. I wished that the room matched. The room was very plain. Some colorful paint or artwork would have made it better. The bathroom was freshly updated and marble. There were several blankets on the bed and I was never cold. The staff was very nice, especially the doormen who negotiated cab fares. Breakfast had everything you could possibly want. It was wonderful. And, it was very nice to have a mini fridge in the room to keep some snacks for later.

We stayed here for 3 nights, and had mostly good experiences. Unfortunately, my husband had severe altitude sickness, and needed oxygen. They were most accommodating in delivering the tanks at all hours of the day and night, and ensuring that we knew how to use them. The rooms were fine. The wi-fi is throughout the hotel and free. We were having a little birthday party for my husband with cakes provided by the travel agency. The restaurant gladly set up the table, served the cakes, etc and I only was charged for the coffees and teas.
The only negative was the construction noise. The hotel was recently acquired by the Ramada, and is undergoing renovation so there was constant noise during the day. Most people might not notice it since under normal circumstances, tourists would be out and bout, but since we were confined to the room, it was annoying.

This hotel was selected by our travelling companions and what a lovely find it was. It may not be the best rated accommodation in Cusco which is a bit disappointing because we thought it was lovely. The staff provide all guests on arrival with a cup of local tea (helpful for those suffering altitude sickness) which is surprisingly pleasant to taste. They deliver your luggage to the room (no lifts unfortunately) and don't expect a tip for the privilege (but are very appreciative when you offer). The ambience of the hotel is very soothing and you actually feel as if you are visiting a local hacienda and staying in a family bedroom. Our room overlooked one of the main streets and we had our own verandah which we could step out onto to watch various activities up and down the street. The room was warm, cosy and clean. Even though it was a bit oldy worldy, but not dated, there were modernised facilities as well, particularly the bathroom. We both felt quite safe walking around the city centre but we were also constantly aware of our surroundings. The city of Cusco seems to be a relatively friendly place to visit so long as you stick to the main areas. Overall, I would rate this hotel as a great place to stay, but the only criticism we had was the restaurant for an evening meal, I suspect there are much better places to eat as the menu was very limited and slightly expensive for what you ordered, otherwise it was a lovely place to come home to after touring the region.

Room Tip: Ask for the upper front section if you want to experience true Cusco style accommodation

8 friends and I stayed in this hotel for three nights as part of a recent Country Walkers trip in Peru. It is authentic and well-located. Restaurant serves good and easy breakfast. (They have a full restaurant, but we chose lunch and dinner spots elsewhere because of the number of good dining options in Cusco.) Beautiful courtyard and good service. However, because of the authentic original colonial historic building, some rooms are quite noisy even during the night and chilly during Peruvian winter. Great location and introduction to Cusco. But not a "pampering" type of experience. All said, though, I would choose to stay there again because of location.

Room Tip: No pool or spa

Beautiful old hotel a short walk to Plaza Des Armas. We had one of the "colonial" rooms facing the street, which was nice during the day for standing on the balcony watching Crazy Cusco Cabdrivers go by. At night, or more precisely early morning, the busy street could get loud. The staff were very, very friendly and helpful, especially the woman who worked the front desk during the day. She arranged for a taxi for us to get to Urubamba (over an hour away) and spoke to the cabbie personally to make sure we got a good fare. I wish I kept her name so I could tell the management. Big bathroom with whirlpool tub. The biggest disappointment was the restaurant / bar. Under construction, it was a dump at the beginning of August.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the main street can get loud before dawn, but closing the doors to the balcony mini...

This hotel has so much charm, particularly the courtyard. The staff is very welcoming and accommodating. We arrived very early, and were able to check into our room. What a treat since we flew through the night. The coca tea in the lobby was a nice treat too. Free wifi and spacious rooms were a plus. If it matters to you, there really wasn't much of a bar, but the city is filled with great night life, so we didn't mind at all.
