It is one of the most beautiful hotels that I have ever being, but it is really expensive. The restaurant is excelent but is extremely expensive, the food is ok, I prefer ten´s of other restaurants in terms of food quality and price. You will pay aprox US$80 per person for an OK food. not fo me!

This was a gorgeous hotel. The location is ideal-- you can walk to so many places. The place itself is historic, and beautifully maintained and promoted. Every room is different. Our room was capable of comfortably sleeping three people. The original murals on the wall added romance, and the practicality of the wooden shutters to the windows maintained the romance while also blotting out the noise of the street. The breakfast was wonderful and the central courtyard was the perfect place to sit and dream while listening to the fountain, and the live music of guitar. I cannot recommend the place too highly. If you are up at 7 am, you'll hear Gregorian chants while you head for breakfast. If you come in as a group for check-in, you'll get to be greeted by staff in the Chapel where you will literally gasp at the gold, glittery setting. Stay here. You will not regret it.

Cuzco is a city that you can enjoy on a shoostring budget but if you are willing to splurge then this is the hotel for you. With its old colonial charm and stunning central courtyard where you listen to chants and have your afternoon tea, Monasterio transports you to another time and place. Its a beautiful hotel in a rich cultural city. This is a perfect base for discovering the surrounding area. Absolutely loved it.

We spent 4 nights here in May en route to Machu Picchu. The service is exceptional, the breakfasts superb, and the amenities in this restored old monastery first class . The location is very central, just a short stroll to the Grand Plaza, local restaurants and shopping .
Highly recommended.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

We stayed at the Monasterio in April 2013 during our visit to Cusco. The hotel was lovely, a peaceful and beautiful haven from the chaotic bustle of Cusco. The room itself was large and well appointed, the bathroom was lovely. The breakfast buffet was superb and the best we had on our four week trip. We upgraded to a room with oxygen which we thoroughly recommend if flying in to Cusco from sea-level (eg Lima). Check-in was efficient and staff generally helpful and friendly. The safe in our room malfunctioned one evening with our passports and cameras locked inside. This was quite stressful for us however a staff member quickly rectified the issue. We were impressed that staff were on immediately on hand and clearly well trained to deal with these unexpected issues.

Our one minor complaint about the hotel was the behaviour of the Concierge. After our stay we stored our large suitcases with the hotel for a few days whilst we visited Machu Pichu. We were not given offered baggage receipts by Reception. On our return to collect our bags we were treated with suspicion and rudeness by the Concierge as we could not provide baggage receipts for the luggage despite being able to provide our Room number and a detailed description of the luggage. We then waited 20-30 minutes without any sort of update whilst the Concierge got around to chasing up our luggage. This tarnished slightly our overall view of what otherwise had been a perfect stay. This in reality is a minor issue however and we would recommend this lovely hotel to anyone wanting a special and memorable stay in Cusco.

The Monasterio's breakfast is fantastic! Delicious and unique breads and pastries with unthinkable flavors, such as cactus fruit jam. Plenty of fruit and cereals, the french toast cooked to order are delicious. And the best cappuccino I've had in Cusco with a lovely courtyard, made my morning so special!

We liked Hotel Monasterio. It was a little bit creepy in my opinion sleeping in a former monastery, but it was beautiful and centrally located. The was a little chapel for prayers, and plenty of choices for breakfast. The courtyard was beautifully landscaped, and even though the rooms are a bit plain they are comfortable.

Room Tip: The rooms closer to the lobby are easier to get to. It is quite easy to get lost walking around a f...
