I'm from the U.S. and have lived in Cusco for 2 and a half years. This place easily has the best American style food in the city. If you are looking for a hamburger...this place is the best. There are others that advertise great burgers (like Jack's Cafe), but it's not a true U.S. hamburger--usually has a bunch of herbs and junk in the meat. At Fuego it's a pure american hamburger (with lots of different options--bacon, BBQ sauce, etc.). They smoke all of their meat before serving it, so it is delicious. They also have some great pumpkin pie and banana bread. If you are from the U.S. and are looking for some U.S. style food, especially a big juicy burger, this is by far the best place in town. The only problem is that it's not in the tourist area. It's about a 10-15 minute taxi ride from the Plaza de Armas. It's right off of Cultura, the main drag that runs the length of Cusco. So, you'd get to see a part of Cusco you might not see as a tourist. It's probably the nicest area of the city (other than the plaza area), but there are no tourists. Right across the street you'll find, in my opinion, the 2 best super markets in the city. The chef is from the U.S. and has worked for Marriott there. The really sad part is that he passed away about a month ago and his Peruvian wife is running the restaurant now. But, she knows how to make this food and she does a great job! Oh, and the great cheeseburgers are right at $5...so it's a great deal.
