Owner description: This is the most popular tour that we offer and there is good reason for it. When this tour was created, it was with the adventure seekers in mind. This tour is kind of like the Inka Trail ‘revamped’, but with the same pay off at the end: The glorious Lost City of the Inkas.

“The best experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2013

I have recommended Lorenzo Expeditions to everyone that is planning a trip to Peru. It exceeded my expectations, and was by far the best part of our entire vacation. Wilber was our tour guide, he went above and beyond his responsibilities to ensure that everyone had a great time. He was very knowledgeable of the Incan Culture and his english was spectacular. I love being as active as possible on vacation and Lorenzo Expeditions took us mountain biking, zip lining, to the hot springs and lots of hiking through villages we wouldn't have seen otherwise. All of the food and accommodations were great. Our only hiccup on our trip was missing our train leaving Machu Picchu, but we contacted Wilber at Lorenzo and he did everything he could (and it was NOT easy) to arrange alternate transportation for us so we wouldn't miss our flight to Bolivia the following day. XOXO

“Definitely worth it (just book elsewhere if staying on in Aguas Calientes)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

The Machu pilgrimage is definitely a once in a lifetime trip, so we weren't going to bother shopping around and scrimping and saving for the sake of a few US dollars: we wanted a guaranteed great experience, so, based on the reviews and what we heard 'on the gringo trail' we were happy to come here and just book. And it proved a completely great decision on our part.

We were told that there were 6 others booked to do our trip, but in actuality, there were only four of us in total. Whether that´s a ploy to make the tours seem more booked than they are, I'm not sure, but we were more than happy with our boutique group. Us and two other NZers. Score. A Kiwi contingent!

Our guide (Juan Carlos) was amazing: a walking, talking encyclopedia. So extremely knowledagble, and just a nice guy to boot. The optional extras were also worthwhile: the thermal pools were divine and the rafting was great fun. I personally did not enjoy the zip-lining, but that's just me.

Accommodation was great on all three nights, as was the food at all stops along the way. Really quite gourmet in a couple of locations. On our third day we stopped for lunch on the trail at a place run by a chef who has a restaurant in Aguas Calientes too, and it was definitely restaurant quality. And that night, JC took us what can only be desribed as a rather flash restaurant for a two course meal. A really nice way to essentially end the trip.

The only one down side: we opted to stay in Aguas Calientes after MP and catch the train the next morning, so we just booked the optional extra night at the hostel for USD20 each. We should have booked somewhere else to stay. After the trek and MP we were absolutely exhausted, shattered actually; the hostel is right in the middle of a main thoroughfare, so it was noisy until late at night and from early in the morning: we didn't sleep well at all. Worst of all, the hostel didn't even bother to supply breakfast. For 20USD, you can easily find a hostel in AG that does, so I thought this was poor value and bad service. Having to scramble around for breakfast before our train in our tired state wasn't a nice way to end our trip. Also the wifi didn't work in our rooms and you had to ask for it to be turned on downstairs, and we had no hot water on the first night. Given the staff spoke zero English and our Spanish equally zero, communication wasn't a strong point. Not too sure how much laundry costs in AG as well, but at basically 3 times the cost it has been elsewhere in Peru, seems kinda opportunistic.

“Fantastic experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

Last week we did the jungle trekking with Lorenzo's expeditions. We had a fantastic time! From the moment we walked into the office we felt that these people really do know what they talk about. And we kept that feeling the whole time. Everything was arranged perfectly, we had good dinners, beds and -very important- good equipment, and there was a good balance between taking it easy and hurrying up. (On another trip we heard constantly that we had one more minute for this and two more minutes for that. I felt hunted for. On the other hand: waiting all the time would not be nice either. Lorenzo's trip had the right rithm for us). Guide Willian was very friendly, spoke very good English and had a lot of knowledge. He really made an affort to do his job at the very best. We did all the extra's (rafting and ziplining) and i recommend that to everyone!
So, if you are thinking of the jungle trekking: Lorenzo's is the place to be.

“Great tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

We did the Inca Jungle trek to Machu Picchu with Lorenzo Expeditions. The team were very organised. Our guide Juan-Carlos was excellent, the hostels were good though Lorenzo could do with investing in some solar power for the first hostel so that you have hot water. We did the biking in torrential rain but it was still fun though. It wasn't too much hard work as it's all downhill but it could have been longer and a couple of the bikes could do with a bit of tuning (spokes tightened etc). The zip lining is great fun and the treks aren't too strenuous. In fact after the zip lining there isn't really a need for the bus, they could just make the trek longer than the flat 3 hour walk to Aguas Calientes. All in all a great trek and good value. I'd recommend you book your Peru Rail ticket early as when we did the website was useless. Or you could stay an extra night in Aguas Calientes as it's a nice town and get the train the next day which may be cheaper. Oh and don't forget your beer money

“Great experience, helpful staff, best value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013 via mobile

Even if you are going to Peru without any reservation to visit Machu Picchu and no idea about how to arrange a cool trekking journey (it was our case) you can consider to put yourselves in the trustful hands of Lorenzo's guys.
Me and my girlfriend had an unforgettable experience with them.
It is not the "traditional" Inca Trail and you'll NOT visit the most popular Inca sight, but you'll have the opportunity to reach Macchu Picchu through diverse paths and trying exciting activities like biking (from the top of a mountain at more than 4.000 meters and 0 degrees to the humid jungle at 1.000 meters and 30 degrees!!), rafting the Urubamba river and "flying" with zip-line (canopy) at 500 meters of highness (of course you can choose if doing these "extreme" activities or not).
And all this for a great value: we contacted many agencies offering similar journey, but they gave it for the best rate.
We came in touch with them through an English couple we met in Perú and they advice us with Lorenzo contact, after having thmeselves a very good time with this agency.
So we strongly advice you to try the Lorenzo experience :-)
