I just came back from an 18-day trip to Peru and wanted to share my experience. As a solo female traveler in a country I didn’t know and a language I barely spoke, I was quite happy when Flavio offered to organize my trip. I just had to say Where and When, and he figured out the How in no time! We worked out an itinerary that matched my budget, timing and all the places I wanted to see.
My arrival in Peru was a little rough due to flight delays and missed connections (thanks United Airlines….), and as a result I missed my first guided tour. Flavio quickly made a few calls and put me back on track for the rest of the itinerary. Later, he actually very kindly took me to Ollantaytambo for a private tour, which, to me, more than compensated for the tour I had missed the first day. I learned so much from him about the Inca culture and history. Considering how busy the guy is, I feel very fortunate and grateful for that experience.
The rest of the trip went very smoothly. The tours were great, the transfers 100% reliable and punctual, and hotels exceeded my expectations. The best part is that whenever I had a question, the ILA team would reply to my emails within an hour or 2 max, and most times, we could chat online.
I had booked the Salkantay trek with ILA but, due to last minute changes, which were totally out of their control, they had me join another trekking company. So I can’t comment on their trekking services. However, here again, they went the extra mile to make sure I had the best experience possible (and the company they sent me to was really great).
All in all, ILA went above and beyond anything I would expect from a travel agency. I had an amazing (and worry-free) experience thanks to them. ILA is a young company ran by very passionate, kind and competent people. I wish them all the best and hope to have the opportunity to travel with them again.
