We arrived in Cuzco after extensive travel through South America. We'd been enjoying Peruvian food, but were happy to try some worthy alternatives in Cuzco's relatively international dining scene. Roma Mia did not disappoint!
We were in Cuzco for a bit over a week and ended up eating there three times. It's easy enough to get decent pizza in South America, but to find proper Italian pasta is a real treat and that - along with the hospitality of the owners - is what drew us back for multiple visits. Ana and Danilo made us feel like welcome friends every time we climbed the stairs to their restaurant. Danilo is from Rome, and his Italian passion and enthusiasm for food is obvious and infectious.
Over the course of our visits, we tried a few different pasta dishes, risotto, bruschetta, salads and some veggie sides, and all of it was delicious. Portions are also generous.
The dining areas are full of photos of Italian cities and celebrities and the music is exclusively Italian artists - makes you feel like you've been transported from Peru to Italy just by walking up the stairs to the restaurant. :-)
To add to the the NY Pizza conversation on this page - I've eaten pizza in NY/the States and in Italy and while both are good, they might as well be two different types of food! If you're looking for NYC pizza in Cuzco, good luck. If you are looking for awesome Italian food in Cuzco, Roma Mia will deliver!
