“Felt like home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2012

We stayed here for 2 weeks and loved it. Edu and the staff were friendly and helpful. We felt right at home. Breakfast was great with lovely coffee and delicious palta (avocado). We were sad to leave.

Room Tip: We had a double with a private bathroom ... Big and lovely.

I spent 3 nights in this hostel and my experience was great. The room was very clean and the location was perfect because you are close to downtown, but at the same time far from noisy places. A particular mention for Diego and Gonzalo who have been very helpful and warm, making our stay superb.

This hostel is in the area of San Blas so it is about 10 minutes walking to the PLaza de Armas, however this is an advantage as it is nice and peaceful, but with lots of good bars and sshops nearby.
The staff were very friendly and helpful when we needed to store our luggage whilst we went on the Inca trail. They also gave us lots of information to help us visit the sacred valley on our own - which is better and a lot cheaper than the overpriced tours.
The breakfast is ample and the dorm room was very comfortable - lots of space, lockers outside the room and a nice bathroom (although a bit small).
Great wifi!

The guys in Pisko @ Soul are great, very friendly people. the matrimonial room we had was clean, pretty big with 24hr hot water, but you have to wait few minutes till it got warm enough. breakfast was continental with fresh bread. the only problem was that our room was directly above the T.V. room, thus, it was pretty noisy sometimes and the wooden floor that squeaked from every step people made in our floor. all around we should definitely recommend staying at this hostel. it located 10 minutes walking uphill from Plaza de armas. the WIFI connection was O.K.

Room Tip: Ask for the matrimonial room - it's big, very clean, comfortable, had a portable small heater, a...

The guys that run Pisco and Soul are some of the nicest and funniest dudes I've met. Give them a bit of love, they'll give you lots right back. They play some really cool tunes in the bar/common area and serve a mean cupa libre. :) Not to mention the free pisco sours that we got on Thursday night (Muy fuerte).

The location is about a 10min walk to the main square and all the cool bars/cafes are around 5min walking distance - 7 angelitos, wachumama reggae bar, fallen angel, Jack's.

The rooms are solid, comfortable and the wi fi is possibly the best I've had so far in any hostel I've stayed at. And if you ask nicely, they might even give you a heater for your room.

All in all, a great place to stay at and I recommend it highly for anybody looking to have a good time and enjoy Cusco!

P.S. They also organise the Inca jungle tours at the hostel.

Pisko & Soul has a sister-hostel, the Grill & Garden, where we stayed two nights. It's located in a quiet side street in the quarter of San Blas and has its own garden. There is also a spacious kitchen and a living room with TV and computer. The staff is not always in the house, so if you ring the bell and nobody opens, go around the corner to the original Pisko & Soul. This can be a bit annoying, even if it is not a long way. Breakfast is also in the other house. The cleanliness of the room was not perfect, but still okay. What we liked most was the location: San Blas is a quarter with lots of cosy restaurants and cafés and it's very near from Plaza de Armas, only ten minutes to walk down. If you have time: try a sandwicht at the restaurant "Juanito's", they are absolutely great!

This is the best budget place to stay in Cusco is you're looking to party outside and still have somewhere relaxing to return to at the end of the night. The San Blas part of Cusco is so much nicer than the downtown area, which is a bit congested and quite touristy. There are several good fixed-price restaurants near the hotel, and you're just walking distance from the main sites. Pedro and Eduardo were wonderful hosts, and I really regret not spending more time here. I partied hard in town, and don't understand why backpackers would choose to stay elsewhere. They also own an apartment around the corner that they will rent out to you by the night. The beds are quite comfortable and warm. The only minor downside is that the floors reek of ammonia or petroleum when cleaning, but that's similar across South America and is actually the sign of a good (clean) place. There is also a computer with internet if you need to use it, and breakfast is simple but nice.
