“Probably the best quality for your money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2013

This is the first hotel in Cusco i tried. I chose this one because of the high ratings it gets. Rooms are comfy, clean and big enough. Breakfast in the beautifull atrium with fireplace is ok and everyone will be able to find something to eat and drink. Im very happy i chose this one and will stay in this hotel again if i ever come back.

Stayed there for 3 nights. All reviews were spot on. Hotel is clean, cozy, cute, and kind of an old big house that was expanded with additions and a court yard in the center of the building. Comfy room, high ceiling, basic amenities. No clock, or facial tissues in the room, which is fine. The whole experience is what all previous reviews are raving about is the exceptional staff. Very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and experienced. Broken english in most cases but communication is good. Staff arranged for a private tour to the scared valley and Cusco's best landmarks. Service was excellent, full breakfast buffet with plenty of fresh juices, fruits, cheeses, and local bread. Will stay there next time if ever in Cusco.

Room Tip: All rooms are kind of the same, its a small place not a big tall building or a high rise that quiet...

We really loved this hotel. It's very unassuming and beautifully designed. Unfortunately, we had a room on the 1st floor and there was no circulation from the outside, so we had a miserable nights-warm sleep. But we would definitely come back and recommend to friends. It is so centrally located and the staff are great! Just be careful of the altitude! We spent 4 days in Ollantaytambo/machu pichu before coming to cusco and didn't have problems with the altitude. But once we got to Cusco, it was a big struggle.

Well worth the booking! Upon our arrival to the airport, we had someone waiting for us. They took us to the hotel, which was only about 15 minutes away and we were greeted with Coca tea, then taken to our room.

The staff had great flexibility, kept our luggage while we traveled to Machu Picchu and even had it waiting for us in our new room upon our return.

We had the opportunity of staying in 2 different rooms, and our second one was more comfortable, especially after our trek to Machu Picchu. It was located above the breakfast area, which has a beautiful and open atrium, making you feel as though you are staying in our own private villa.

The breakfast is pretty good and had good assortments, especially a quinua cereal, which I am dying to find back home!

We booked this hotel based on all the great reviews. Unfortunately it fell short of our expectation on a very simple fact that a taxi which was confirmed to be booked on our behalf never showed up to pick us up from the train station. With the understanding that we were to pay 30 soles for pick up from Poroy station. Because we do not speak the language or know the area we inquired the hotel for their assistance, Karla, who was our correspondent, kindly agreed to help. Unfortunately we waited and waited at the station until we were the last passengers left. Luckily there were a couple of taxis available so we just showed them the hotel address and they brought us here. Upon arrival to the hotel, we told the lady at reception about what happened and she kind of brushed it off, which made us a bit upset. Perhaps she didn't fully understand what we were telling her because of language barriers, but still...a bit unacceptable. She apologized but I'm not certain if she did so just to get us off her back. We weren't expecting anything from the hotel. Just wanted them to recognize that they need to be organized and be accountable for their guest, regardless of the stars outside their hotel.
As far as the room goes, it's nice inside. At least the room we have is unique with a mezzanine, but no window. Only skylight. Ground is slightly slanted to enter the bathroom so it's easy to slip. There is constant cleaning noise or something of the sort all morning. And voices can be heard through these walls.

We went down for breakfast at 9:35am and there was nothing much left but some stale bread a few slices of ham and cheese, and a few sausages floating in a "clay pot".

I'm writing this review as I'm laying in bed at this hotel. We still have one night left here...and to be honest, I wish I was staying at a different hotel.

Although I have to add that they are accommodating with storing your luggages and it's already in your room when you get here. But then again, most hotels would do the same.

Unhappy travelers

Dear Th623,

Thank you for your comment and for telling us about the inconvenient that you had with the taxi that should have picked you up from the Poroy train station.

There is nothing that we value more than the feedback from our travelers in order to continue improving our service every day.

We would like to strongly apologize for the inconvenience that you experienced with that taxi and we can assure you that we are taking the corrective measures to avoid repeating situations as the one happened to you.

Regarding the noise, you are mentioning in your comment, we will revise the room you have stayed in and check if the isolation system is working properly.

Once again, please accept our sincere apologies, and we hope to have the opportunity of serving you again in the near future.

Best Regards,

This hotel is about a block away from the Plaza de Armes. (The location on Google Maps was slightly erroneous, as it was a few buildings farther away from the plaza.)

This hotel was an excellent value for the price. Room 401 was very tastefully decorated and comfortable. As earlier reviews have mentioned, room 401 is large and has a great view of the city. The bed was extremely soft and comfortable, and the shower worked well. Free WiFi was available at the hotel, with decent speed. The room also has a semi-private patio (connecting the room to the reception area) with chairs to sit and enjoy the view.

We stayed there on a Wednesday evening, and the music from a nearby disco could be heard in our room (around 10:30pm). When we turned on the TV, then we could no longer hear the disco music. We turned off the TV and were able to sleep even with the music, but if you are a light sleeper, then this may be bothersome.

Breakfast was very good. It is in a beautiful dining room on the first floor (bottom floor) of the hotel.

Room Tip: Room 401 is large and has a great view of the city. The room also has a semi-private patio (connect...
