I enjoyed the efficient layout of this hotel. It is one of the few hotels in Cusco that defeats the deafening sound of horn-beeping taxis by having most of its rooms underground and yet still allows in natural sunlight through an interior courtyard design. The only downside to the courtyard design is that you do hear other guests. I did best on the very bottom floor as far away from noise as possible but if you are light sleeper and need to sleep in don't stay in the rear courtyard as you'll hear morning breakfast preparations starting at 4:30 a.m. with blenders making juice. The staff accommodated me nicely with room changes to find the one that would best suit me. The location cannot be beat, being just off the plaza de armas, and the staff are helpful with directions although not knowledgeable about where to get a good massage. Booking through Expedia got me the best rate, $70/night vs. the hotel web site of $110. Rooms are small at the lower end but for $70 and the other stuff that comes with it, it is a good value. No organic eggs will be found in Cusco hotels or restaurants but the cook was kind enough to provide me a nice helping of avocado in the morning.

Beautiful boutique hotel tucked away up a fairly quiet street off the main plaza.
We had a superior double room, stunning!
We stayed for 2 nights then went to Matchu Picchu, then back for another night.
The hotel stored our luggage for us no problem, and was in our room on our return.
Staff were excellent.
Have no complaints about this hotel...
We were even given bags to pack a breakfast from the buffet as we were leaving very early.

Such a joy to find this gem of a hotel right near the Plaza del Armas. Beautifully decorated, charming, well appointed hotel with excellent service. Greatly enjoyed the modern feel that was still cozy and welcoming. The hotel is quiet and lovely, although you may get street noise coming from the busy restaurants and clubs nearby.

This was a wonderful place to refresh and relax during our tour of Cusco, Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. We requested to stay here because of the good reviews received (and mixed reviews of the hotels listed with our tour company) and it was no problem for our wonderful tour compay Machu Travel Peru to make the change and arrange for us to stay at Tierra Viva. I think everyone should stay here to make the most of their time in this delightful city. You will enjoy the great location, also.

the hotel is part of a new chain called tierra viva. they have hotels all around. this particular one is brand new 3 months old. it is in an old inca building and has been remodelled to suit. the design is very good and interesting. the staff are great always ready to help. it is very clean with all the mod cons wifi cable tv etc... the location is perfect very closed to all the attractions. the only thing i think might be a problem is that there is no phonic insulation, so you hear everything and being and old building full of courtyard it echoes quite a bit. the other challenge for the management will be to be able to maintain such a good standard over time.
