My friend and I stayed in ecopackers cusco for two nights before going to Machu Pichu. When we arrived at the hotel we were waiting for several minutes for the staff to find a room for our reservation - very disorganized. We were waiting so long we thought we might not even have a place to stay for the night despite making our reservation ahead of time. The room itself looked nice. We were supposed to have two beds but they messed up and gave us one. Shower was cold and no pressure at all. We told the staff and they made us come the next day to change our room. This messed up our plans for seeing cusco since we had to back track to the hotel just to fix room annoyances. When we got back to the hotel they STILL did not give us an extra bed like they said they would if we came back the next day. Very disorganized. They should have had the replacement room with extra bed ready so we could switch rooms when we came back. The place itself is more tailored for early 20s college kids. People smoking on the balcony right outside our room. Requirement to wear wristbands - seriously?? Bar located inside the building - really noisy. The staff didn't care about the annoyances. The place is for college kids. It is quite expensive too for what is offered. The staff are very hard to communicate with and do not speak English. The breakfast was eggs which was nice. If you want a quite place with water pressure and staff that cares about its reputation and customers look elsewhere! We went to Dragonfly hostel around the corner and it was soooo much better and cheaper! Also the travel agency which they referred us to which is located inside the ecopackers building is also crap - disorganized staff that don't speak English are incompetent and frankly don't care and WILL rip you off. We were tricked into having hotel excluded from our package.

I am traveling through Peru for about a month. After two weeks jungle survival near Pucallpa i took a flight to Cusco. I booked a few days sacred valley and Machu Picchu via an airport travel agency. They advised me to stay at Ecopackers, im a real fan of hostels because of the community aspect and because hostels are in general a great source of info, recommendations etc.

So Ecopackers did provided everything you might expect from a hostel, they have a great (nice decorated) place friendly staff and the location is perfect, in the middle of the center of Cusco.
I really enjoyed my stay and want to thank Maria and Pamela in particular for their great service.

When you are in Cusco and want a friendly informal place to stay i would recommend this hostel.

Such a great place to chill. Lovely, friendly staff especially Maria and Pamela on the reception! I stayed in an 18 bed dorm for 3 weeks and it was super chilled and didn't feel like I was sharing with 17 others. I really loved staying there - had to force myself to leave!

This place was everything a backpacker could hope for!...hot showers, comfy beds, English speaking staff, great guacamole breakfast and super clean. I came sick from trekking and left 6 days later very refreshed. Dennis, Maria, Pamela and Johan...and all the other staff were absolutely incredible!
