Our group of 10 just returned from a tour organized by Escaped to Latin America and had a really wonderful experience. Our tour included Peru (Lima, Cusco, Sacred Valley, Aquas Calientas,Machu Piccu and back to Cusco and Lima). In Peru we were taken care of by a company called Condor Travel who were excellent. The trip was originally put together by Sam (from Escaped who unfortunately is now in Argentina) and one of our team. We were taken care of every step of the way, from being checked into flights to advice on avoiding altitude sickness. Our Cusco guide Milton was great. He showed us round the Sacred Valley and also did our tour on our return from Machu Piccu. Temperature fluctuates like crazy in Cusco so remember to carry those sweaters even when days start off hot. We then flew to Iguazzu Falls where they arranged for us to be met by Igucity Bus tours. There too our guide Marcello was entertaining and very knowledgeable. We had two days here exploring the Argentinan side and the Brazilian side of the falls. And finally our tour took us to Rio where we had the most amazing time. Here the group was looked after by Receptivo Rio Turismo with Edson arranging our Rio city tour and our Tijuca forest trip. The only negative part of their city tour is that here we were part of a larger group and our tour guide Vincent (excellent though he was) had to move from English to Spanish to Portuguese. Also because they had to pick up other people our tour to Corcovaddo took place in the afternoon instead of the morning. The sun was behind the statue of Christ the Redeemer. However, they included a fantastic lunch and a churraskaria dinner with show. The last day of our tour was with Linda in an open truck to see the Tijucka forest. Again simply breathtaking and an excellent experience with an amazing guide who took the trouble to stop off at the end of the tour and show us how to get the elevator to one of the city's favelas. We had two more free days in Rio and then were picked up and seen off by Edson, who waited till we were completely checked in for our flight back to Toronto. All the hotels we stayed in were comfortable with good buffet breakfasts and friendly and helpful staff. Although we were initially a little apprehensive about booking with a company based in Cusco, Peru we were pleasantly surprised and would recommend Escaped to Latin America to anyone looking for a reliable tour operator. Mark Smith their current General Manager has been very helpful and quick in responding to any queries.
