“Good hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

This hotel was good, the location is very close to the main square, the room we got was quite small and the bedding was kind of thin considering it gets cold at night in Cusco. Also, the shower in our bathroom had no pressure. Internet was really slow and almost non-existent. The hotel definitely needs some updating. The staff was very helpful and very friendly. The dining area was nice and very relaxing and the bar area was nice and they had a wall of photos to show off the famous people that have stayed in the hotel. Overall, just okay, if they update maybe they will get better ratings than average.

Room Tip: There's really no option on what floor since the hotel only has 2 floors. Maybe ask for thicker...

This is a small and artful boutique hotel. It is apparent that when this 17th century manor home was converted into a hotel in 2009 a lot of thought went into its design and furnishings. The small bar regularly has a welcoming fire in the fireplace, and the dining area is filled with light. The smaller rooms might be a little close for some. We stayed in one of the larger rooms named Sacsayhuaman View which had its own small balcony. It was delightful. The hotel has a lot of open areas so sound does tend to travel, but we felt that the church bells and neighborhood fireworks just added to the Cuzco experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The included breakfast offered eggs cooked to order, along with fresh fruit and a variety of juices. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this unique hotel.

The rooms are small and utilitarian, but clean and comfortable. The lounge and dining areas are the real draw as they are quite unique and they are charming. Breakfast was a buffet and hot omelette made to order. Very good. The staff was helpful and, as everywhere we went in Peru, eager to please. The location is great, just a short walk from the Plaza de armas but far enough away that it avoids the chaos of the plaza. Just a heads up- if taking a taxi from train station, just hail one at the station, don't have the hotel arrange one as they charge a fair amount more.

Dear friends,

Thank you very much for your feedback, we are glad to hear you enjoy your stay with us; your words motivate us to put more effort even to our work, thank you.

Regarding the transfers hired in the Hotel, effectively our rates take a bit more but please we have to consider that we pay taxes, we guarantee the ride and our drivers in security matters and also we are responsible if something happens or is lost inside the cab, of course you can hire a free one on the station but they won´t cover all of this as we do when you hire a transfer with us.

Once again thank you for your comments and for your visit, we wish you safe travels and hope to have you again in a future.

Best Regards...

The hotel was okay, dated and was probably excellent at one time but that time has since passed. The desk staff were friendly and we had all the tea we could drink. We accidentally left an iPhone in the safe (we are positive it was there when we left) with the safe unlocked. When we called the hotel to check if they had found it is was nowhere to be seen. We went back through Cusco and checked in to see if it was there and after trying to suggest we left it somewhere else they explained all they had done to try to find it. They were apologetic and earnest about their searching but at the end of the day the staff in the hotel could not resist temptation or someone came off the street and stole it (the former is more likely though the doors do not automatically lock and the room may have been open after we left). So overall we take the room rate plus the $600 phone replacement cost into account to say this place was not worth it.

Room Tip: Don't know, both our rooms were awkward and cramped but its a historic building so that wasn'...

Dear friends,

Thank you always for your feedback that gives us the opportunity to improve our service and also clarify some specific cases that may damage our reputation.

Regarding your comments I would like to bring now our formal report coming from all the staff that has been involved. It is important to know also that we manage a “lost and found” policy that say that any item found in Andean Wings must be reported by our workers in the very same moment that is found, that day unfortunately front desk never received a report from House Keeping of an iphone found in your room before your call came to us.

According to front desk you left the hotel on December 20th early in the morning with destiny Machupicchu, later on that same morning around 10 am they received a call from you telling that you thought you left an iphone in the safety box but with the box open (please in a future and for your security, consider using a safety box appropriately, never left it open with your staff inside) and also the receptionist said that you wasn´t sure if effectively you left it behind but ask her to look for it, after your call front desk report the situation immediately to our House Keeping area and they look for the iphone in all the room with no success to find it.

After on when you come back again to the hotel on December 23th you ask again for the iphone but this time assuring that you left it in the open safety box of your room, they explain you again that nothing was found that day in the room and ask you to consider the possibility of other options like in your taxi to the station, the station itself, or maybe in the train to Machupicchu.

Unfortunately your iphone is lost and we are sorry for that but I can confirm at almost 99% that it was not left in Andean Wings, we trust our workers because we know them, we investigate and demand their police records before start working, the most recent proof is a last report of an expensive camera found in one of our rooms and it will be sent back to the United States this week to his owner with our assistance.

Thank you for your attention.

Hotel was chosen by our tour agency. First impression was very good as the boutique hotel, though small, was very pretty and the staff were very friendly. Huge room, Peruvian styled and not those modern design. Comfortable and very clean, huge bed. We were in the room on the first level, named Shipova Twin. Very convenient. Point for improvement: water pressure can be stronger. Note that if you are a light sleeper, you can be woken up at about 5am every morning by the sound of bells. The hotel is not located on the main square (Plaza de Armas) but it's a short walk (maybe about 3 blocks away) which is a comfortable walk. It is very safe to walk around the city center, even at night. Breakfast is simple fare, we don't need much so we were very satisfied with scrambled eggs/omelette, ham, toasted bread and fruits. Of course there are also juices. And the hotel provides free flow of coca tea and Sorojchi pills help with altitude sickness. Overall, service is excellent and we felt very welcome.

We were there only one night but the stay was amazing! We stayed in the Illary Room, which has a Jacuzzi, fresh flowers, great light, and one of the comfiest beds I've ever slept on. The Mandela Lounge (named after Nelson Mandela) has a cozy fireplace--one not to be missed as you sip on a Pisco Sour while using up your complimentary cocktail tickets. ;)
