“Great at first glance... then disappointing.”
Preface: The overall experience was decent, but the details didn't line up with the image. This rating is mostly of the misalignment of presentation and value.
The menu I glanced at outside looked good and the gentleman explained a couple of delicious sounding dishes. From the outside it looks like a really nice upscale dining experience and upon entering it feels the same. However, once I sat down, that image started to deteriorate. The napkins are a cheap-feeling, see-through, satin/lace combo that don't really absorb. My orange place mat was fraying around the edges. The menu I was handed was dirty with food smudges. All these are minute details that detract from the upscale image initially portrayed.
The complimentary bread that was provided before my appetizer came was a TINY sweet roll served with olive oil and balsamic. Even though it was served in a very nice little dish, it felt very cheap. It was like they pulled a breakfast roll out of a large plastic bag purchased at the convenience store. For me, it would have been better served with a (larger) homemade, savory (salty) bread.
I ordered two of the staff-recommended dishes. The Duo Mushroom appetizer was Delicious, if not a bit salty, but still GREAT flavor. The tender beef (lomo) fettuccine in red wine sauce reduction had a decent flavor with fairly chewy beef. It was served with shredded mozzarella (or jack) instead of Parmesan which would have been more fitting.
The actual plates and cups themselves are an aesthetic treat, but the actual presentation of the dishes is only fair. There is a lot of room for improvement that only require minor changes. It's all about the small details. For the price, there are many other more highly recommended locations - albeit not "organic".
