Staff is very kind and helpful, but only owners speak English. I was very disappointed at this Hostal after staying at Hostal Inkarri. They are of the same price range but Hostal Inkarri by far superior. Plus side -- cute hotel with nice decor and close location to city center. Negatives -- no wake-up service (alarm clock they gave me did not work. almost missed my trek!). Breakfast served much later than Inkarri, but can be reserved. Pay in soles since the owner will charge you at lower exchange rate than the dollar rate listed on the website. Also, if you are coming in late, they will stick you in a room where there is no cable tv and no running hot water. After a long trek, hot shower and zoning out with the tv is super important. Moreover, your rate includes this tv, so make sure you get what you paid for. The biggest negative was having to buzz in and out of the Hostal. For one thing, everyone room in the Hostal is within earshot of the buzzer. If you are a light sleeper and to get up early, this will be a deal breaker for you. If you are out late, you can be waiting outside for as long as 10 minutes or longer to be buzzed in.
