“Nice Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2011

The location is a bit "far" from city center.
The rooms are nice, the staff is very friendly (they speak french, english and spanish of course).
The breakfast is correct. The price and tours are alright. Colca Canyon tour for 35$us/pax.

Good stay with them.

Usually statements like this would be an overstatement, but in our experience it was true (and we experienced much kindness all over the country and in neighbouring Bolivia). The owners were beyond friendly - friends! I really cannot begin to thank them for their kindness, to the extent that I would like to return to Arequipa one day just to see them. We experienced no problems with the area - it is not far from the centre (nearby sites and restauraunts were explained to us on our arrival), and the hotel itself is perfectly secure. The breakfast on the terrace was lovely and the room comfy. If you wish to be welcomed like family, I recommend the Posada Nueva Espana in Arequipa.

We stayed in Posada Nueva España for 1 night in May after a tour to Colca Canyon. The hotel is in a quiet street and we didn’t feel dangerous walking around (although the owner told us to use a taxi after dark if crossing the bridge). The room was beautiful and comfortable, although sometimes the WiFi reception might be weak in the room depending on the location. It impressed us most was the hospitality of the owners. They gave us directions, introduced us to wonderful local restaurants, and even allowed us to stay extra hours while waiting for our night bus. Thank you, Posada Nueva España ,we really enjoyed our stay in Arequipa.

We stayed here for 3 nights in May 2011. I would definitely stay there again on a future trip.
I prefer smallish hotels that are family run, because I feel I get a more personal experience when I travel to unfamiliar places. Posada Nueva Espana was perfect. The location was great--about a 10 minute walk to the main plaza and in a quiet, safe area (though we did hear a dog barking one night). For us, the location was perfect, but if you're the type who prefers to be right next to the action, this hotel will be too quiet for you.
The staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly. The terrace was a delightful breakfast spot, and the rooms were comfortable with modern bathrooms and plenty of hot water (though you need to let the water run about 20 seconds--we found this to be the case at our other hotels in Peru as well). We stayed in room 3 and it was a large room with nice, though not deluxe, furnishings. The courtyard is full of plants and flowers and felt like an oasis at the end of a day of hiking of sightseeing. For the price, this hotel is a great value.

We arrived in the hotel after a trip into the colca canyon. The room we had, looked a little bit used but it was very clean. They have a littly sunny terrace where in the morning the breakfest is served. Unfortunatly the WiFi works not in our room but well on the terrace. Sitting there they served us coca tea for free.
The staff was very helpful, friendly and well english speaking. They organized us bus tickets to our next location.
The location of the hotel is not optimal. It is only a 10 minutes walk to the main area of Arequipa but ist not a really good area. The staff recommend to us to use a taxi after 9pm.
Nethertheless a lovely place to stay.

the hotel itself is comfortable, but it is not at all well located, it is very far awy from cntre of Arequipa. IN our way back to the hotel our camera ws snatched. This hotel is located in a dangerouz zne of Arequa, that is why we had to leave it. The hotel is comfortable nd is nice decorated, breakfst is good. intrnet wi fi does not work.It is very hard to find txis in front of the hotel, you hve to wlk blok to fin some taxis, and in night the streets tht are near the hotel are very dark.

Really pretty little hotel with a courtyard and roof terrace and the friendliest, most helpful owners.
