The travel guides that indicate this hotel has air conditioning and wifi are incorrect or out-of-date. And the pool was empty and under repair. And you can't get wine by the glass or small bottles of beer. And the room had the corpse of a huge bug and other evidence of not being used or cleaned in some time. And a new paint job would help. And the faucets to the sink and shower supply only salt water. But I would recommend this place for all but the most inflexible and fastidious of travelers along the southern coast of Peru.
BUT, what Puerto Inka does have is a beautiful south facing bay and sand beach, genuine Inca ruins to explore, hiking paths up both rocky bluffs, sea lions frolicking morning and night off the shore, great beachside breakfasts and dinners for "all-inclusive" guests and an adequate ale carte menu for others. Although the pool has no shallow area (it was being filled as we departed), families should like this place, and it was great for this young acting senior citizen couple. It caters to campers as well.
Room 302 has a king bed and is close to the water. Sunset was gorgeous and we felt the waves throughout the night. Rooms 401 and 402 are even closer to the breaking waves.
