“Excellent spot”

Stayed here for a month while in Spanish school. Ideal location close to city center. Feels more like a hotel than hostel. Very well run, efficient and friendly service from everyone, and serves a really good breakfast.

Close to Plaza des Armas, right behind the Monastero di Santa Catalina, nice rooms, huge shower, clean. Best breakfast ever, fresh pancakes and delicious fruit juices. Reception can speak good English, French and a lady even Italian.
They are nice, can recommend good restaurants and the Laundry Service was the best, clean good smell and ironed clothes in less than a day, you leave in the morning and the evening they're ready :)

This hostel is conveniently located from the main square (Plaza des Armas) and Mercados area (the typical high - street shopping area). The local map they provided was sufficient for the nearby area, but if you travel further afield it would be wise to visit the tourism office in the Plaza des Armas for a bigger map.

The taxi cost from the airport was 20/soles as organised by the reception in the hostel - contact them ahead for airport pickup arrangements. It should be 8 - 10 soles for a taxi to the bus terminals. Give yourself plenty of time for taxis, Arequipa taxis weren't very punctual for us.

The rooms (booked a double room ensuite) themselves were clean and comfortable, towels and soap were provided. Ugarte Street is quite quiet at night so sleeping was fine. There is a row of computers for free internet access near the reception. They were very convenient and were of great use to us during our time at Las Torres. I have to admit that the hostel's wifi reception on my phone wasn't so good within Las Torres, but others may disagree when using a laptop.

The breakfast was the best I've had out of all the hostels in Peru! Omelettes, some puffed rice grain cereal, fresh fruit, hot beverages and sliced hams/cheeses with bread rolls -- great to eat a substantial breakfast. There is a nice terrace/balcony area one level above the breakfast area, the view of the city isn't bad from there.

The staff at Las Torres were amazingly helpful. We repeatedly had lots of help when booking bus tickets to Chile and organising an impromptu trip to the Colca Canyon (highly recommend, even if the 6hr-journey is a PITA) - helped translate the phone conversations and provided sound advice throughout. Very professional, very friendly, very capable. Would recommend you have some basic Spanish ability (we didn't but communicated fine) but it's not an issue as one of the staff speaks English, French, Spanish and also a little German!

Ms. Torres, the hotel's manager, stretches the definition of welcoming, making a stay of any kind in this hotel a great experience. In addition, the entire place is exceedingly comfortable, clean and has an amazing turtle. All common areas are fantastic, starting from the breakfast area with the friendliest cook you'll ever meet, to the beautiful patios, both on the first floor and rooftop. In terms of location, the hotel is about 4 blocks from the city's center and close to all major historical locations. Highly recommended place, will definitely stop by again when returning to Arequipa.

This hostel had a room that could accommodate a family of 4 – tight but single beds for everyone. The staff at Ugarte are wonderful and helpful. The location is ideal, which you don’t realize initially until you start walking around the town.

Breakfast is great, some buffet and some food cooked to order and some food just arrives at your table.

The staff held our luggage for a night while we went to Colca Canyon, which made this trip much easier.

I will say there are a lot of positives but the owners need to put some money into general maintenance. The curtains in the room were dirty and the curtain rod is falling out of the wall, the bed linens and towels were old. The bed spreads were stained and dirty. There is 1/2 a lumpy pillow and 1 throw pillow (that I didn't want to put my head on) for each bed.

In this place we took the coldest showers of anyplace we stayed in Peru, we’ll call it slightly warm with blasting pressure. – You have to turn the hot water on fully to get it warm.

Everyone enjoyed the tortoise, Lolo that roams the property.

I had a single room off the main floor patio, which was beautiful, clean, and very quiet at night. A great value for only $35! The included breakfast was delicious and the cook, as well as all other staff at the hotel were extremely friendly. They helped me book a tour to Colca Canyon, as well as stored extra luggage for a few days and called taxis whenever needed. The location was within a 5 minute walk from most tourist attractions and I felt very safe wandering around on my own in the area.

The pet turtle was a cute surprise and be sure to check out the view from the rooftop patio!

Excellent location , friendly and helpful staff , comfortable rooms, good breakfast and affordable rates. Don t forget to say hello to the day manager Lolo. He's a bit slow these days but is still very hospitable.

Room Tip: Check trip advisor first or go and have a look at the room first
