“Peaceful comfortable hotel in city centre”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2014

In city centre but does not feel like it. 10 min walk to the old town sites. Beautiful gardens next to river and very oeaceful despite being near road. Good rooms in small "cottages". Ours looked out over river. Good breakfast. Friendly to our children . Had one meal which was reasonable- had an excellent dinner in the nearby Zig-Zag restaurant.

Beautiful grounds, friendly service, good restaurant. As another reviewer mentioned, bottles of water, as well as coffee and tea, is readily available in the lobby (free of charge) at all times. It is just a short walk to shops and restaurants. I would absolutely stay here again.

Smallish hotel - close to the centre but not right in the centre. Some traffic noise - nothing that disturbed us..

Free bottled water always available. Tea & coffee on tap all the time. I was particularly impressed that when I was taking a suitcase from my room to the reception (I could have asked for help but didn't bother) the gardener dropped what he was doing and rushed over to help.

This hotel was one of several booked for us by an excellent travel company as part of a private tour. It's a quirky hotel in a good location for walking to the sights of Arequipa. It's almost an oasis from the constant hustle and bustle of the noisy city traffic. Although far from silent, it's sheltered from a good deal of the traffic noise by being below road level and built into the banks of the Rio Chili, so that when the traffic dies down you can hear the gushing of the river turbulence. Our Senior Suite room was well appointed overlooking the gardens and river with views to El Misti, one of the volcanoes overlooking the city. The huge bed was very comfortable. The gardens are very pleasant, full of birdsong from the caged canaries, the resident peacocks and the wild birds. There was even an Alpaca tied up and grazing. However, sitting in the garden required lots of insect repellent spray to ward off the Peruvian midges. The restaurant was well appointed with a wide-ranging menu and a central wood burning chimney. There's free wi-fi throughout. All the staff were very friendly, attentive and spoke good English. I still miss not having tea and coffee making facilities in my room, the only disappointment.

...except for the sad-looking alpaca on the property that was dirty, skitterish and chained up all the time. Also the songbirds in cages hanging outside certain garden rooms; totally unnecessary. It really is a beautiful property otherwise - just outside the main downtown area (7-10 min walk), by the river (expect lots of bugs though) and with Misti in the background.

This hotel is located as the name suggests by the bridge and although the area is always very busy when you go down into the hotel grounds the noise etc, disappears and it is easy to relax. The grounds overlook the river and have the snow capped mountains as a backdrop and there are lots of seating to enable you to enjoy the views. The hotel has a resident alpaca and peacocks and peahens. The peacock was quite a character and was always trying to get into the garden room when food was served.

There are drinks available all day in the lobby area and you can have a free pisco sour after your arrival. We stayed in a junior suite and found the size and location very good although we understand the standard rooms are smaller. Overall we would definitely recommend this hotel and it is an easy walk to the many sites and restaurants in Arequipa.

Room Tip: choose a suite if you can afford it

This is one of my favorite hotels of all time. I have stayed here for work and with my wife for a long weekend and found it impossible not to relax when Im here. I love the rooms and have always gotten one that opens out onto the quite terraces in some way. Evenings have to be spent sitting on the lawn and watching the city lights shine across the river without the normal Peruvian city noise. A true oasis.

Room Tip: Make sure to get one of the rooms in the terraces and plan on an evening spent sitting on the lawn w...
