“Somewhat unexpected hotel in Central Arequipa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2014

Didn't really know what to expect. We drew up outside an unassuming frontage in an Arequipa side street and entered into a small reception. Formalities over very efficiently we found that the hotel was an old colonial house with several courtyards and a charming small garden. Our room was huge with a high barrel vaulted ceiling - a bit dark perhaps but more than OK with two large beds. Small but efficiently functioning bathroom and good Wifi. Breakfast was a bit of a surprise cereal, juices, scrambled eggs and coffee as usual but the surprise was the bowl of coca leaves to make coca tea - it is supposed to help with altitude sickness, but not sure if it helped or not. So if you want a basic but convenient hotel close to Arequipa's main sites this is well worth trying.

Loved this place, it was close to everythign and rather inexpensive. the other best part was there where lots of people to meet, I found it very close to the nightlife and there was even a free walking tour that began only a block from my hostel. Overall im very happy and would do it again. I traveled with GoMochilero and they set eveything up perfectly, now im heading to Ecaudor. Thanks Go Mochilero

Room Tip: hot water is hard to come by in South america, so if you can see past that, then everwhere is better

Good location, few minutes walk down popular street with restaurants, cafes, to plaza. Secure. Quiet. Beautiful conglomeration of rooms and courtyards, lovely garden setting for breakfast. High ceilings, wooden doors, aged furniture, lovely wood floor. Lots hot water. Very comfy super sized king bed! Cable TV in room, spotty wifi which was fine in garden. If only there had been a fireplace in the room (which was huge) that would have been the icing on the cake. Good breakfast included in price: self serve rolls, ham/cheese, fruit, yogurt; eggs cooked to order.
Arrived early morning after overnight journey, very kindly had room available for us. NOTE: Unable to pay by Visa, had to be soles cash.

This hostel is really cosy and pretty. I was in a tiny room by myself which was nice. It had incredibly thick walls and I had my own bathroom with a nice warm shower. Extra blankets provided which was nice, plus it had a TV and free wifi. Friendly staff around at all times and a nice yummy breakfast served in the garden each morning. There is a small cafe as well where you can get tea 24/7. In a nice area, quiet, just a quick walk to the main square. There are shops around for laundry, bottled water, snacks and money exchange. Nice, safe area.

The hotel complex is large with rooms well spread out on two levels. You don't feel crowded as different areas are separated by paths, gardens and small outside areas. Rooms are large with very high ceilings (16') and thick (2') stone/concrete walls. It used to be a monastery. It is very quiet at night. Each room has an adjoining bathroom with sink, toilet and shower. Soap, shampoo and towels are provided daily. Our room had a table and chairs and plenty of areas to store clothes. Beds were comfy and we had no problems sleeping. Decent speed free wifi is available throughout the hotel.

Buffet breakfast (included) - eggs, bread, jam, cold meat, juice, coffee, tea, yoghourt, cereal, fruit is served outside in a sheltered area beside the garden.

Staff are all very friendly. Location is great - 5 minutes to the main square and steps in any direction to restaurants and shops to buy clothes, food, personal supplies, gifts or anything you could ever want. People in the area are friendly and we did not feel threatened walking during the day or night. That is not to say don't be cautious and careful (you should not walk around flashing money) but we never felt unsafe. Baggage storage is provided if you are leaving the area and planning on returning.

We stumbled across this place and were surprised how lovely and large it is. Most of the space seems to be gardens and courtyards, which are lovely, with pretty flowers and birds. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. It is an old colonial house, so it has some of the charm and character associated. Don't expect much modernity, it is more like a stately home. Helpful and friendly staff, though strict about when breakfast ends. We loved the place.

Beautiful and classic a colonial
Home that has been restored into a peaceful bed and breakfast. The rooms are kept with their character and offer a special experience.the garden within the walls is beautiful and we would stay here again.
Breakfast was lovely and the staff very friendly . Try the cereal with the sweet yogurt
