“Condors and Canyon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2012

We did an organized two day hiking tour to the Colca Canyon. Watching the Condors at 8.45am on the first day was amazing in spite of the masses of tourist at the look out. The first day of hiking is easy, mostly downhill into the Canyon. We spent the night in an oasis and left at about 5am the next day to reach the top of the Canyon before it becomes too hot. There is no change of scenery on the second day and your are going uphill for several hours. So it is exhausting and a bit boring.
The two day tour was a good choice. If you join a three day tour, the first, easy day is split in two parts and you still have to do the harder, uphill part in the morning of the third day

Altogether the Canyon and the Condors are definitely worth the several hour bus ride from Arequipa. Don't forget to ask, if the entrance is included when you book a tour and want to compare prices.

“Amazing place though difficult to get to”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2012

The worlds deepest canyon is one of peru's must see attraction. I did a 2 day tour as it takes 4-5 hours to reach the Colca valley from Arequipa. The drive there is nothing short of spectacular with the road reaching a maximum altitude of almost 5000m...expect a dull headache! The valley and canyon itself are so beautiful. We saw numerous condors on our visit.

“Go with Naturaleza Activa”

Guillermo and Eduardo at Naturaleza Activa in Arequipa can set up a custom trip just for you and your needs. Don't be herded with the other tourists, go with a small group and with experienced guides that will help you avoid the tourist pitfalls along the way. Eduardo and Guillermo can converse freely in English and have many many years of experience in Colca Canyon and all over Southern Peru. Lastly, feel good about going with Naturaleza and supporting sustainable tourism in Peru.

“Great hike and good views of the condor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2012

Having gone all the way to Peru, I'm glad we visited Colca canyon. Arequipa is a lovely city, and our favorite in Peru! Colca canyon itself is lovely, though we didn't go to the deepest part. We saw many condors in flight. We also enjoyed our hike along the colca.
