3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2012

I was very disappointed by the state of my room. Frankly, I felt I had been misled by the pictures which don't show how the hostel really is. Old-fashioned and not clean despite having clean bedsheets. The floor had not been mopped. The shower did not work properly as there was hardly water coming out. No hot water at night while the excursions start early. However, the staff was very nice and the breakfast was good (fresh juice, cooked breakfast - eggs). Old PC available but it's still convenient to have access to the Internet.

Three of us stayed for three nights and we couldn't be more delighted. Mrs Barbara, who runs the place is just about the most precious human being we encountered on that continent. Always smiling, ever accommodating, helpful and sweet. The rooms were big and spacious, and everything was very clean. This hotel had an awesome rooftop, and we spent a lot of time up there, playing cards and soaking up the sun. I almost cried when we had to leave, and for the rest of our trip we referred to anyone we liked as "mrs barbara'.

We found this guesthouse just at the corner of Jurusalen and Puente Grau. It was the low season so we got our room for S.40 without having to bargain. Our room was very big (it had one double bed and 2 singles) although we only paid for a double. The room and attached private bathroom were both very clean and the shower had hot water without any of the usual Peruvian electrics. The price included breakfast of bread and jam, coffee or tea, 2 eggs either fried or scrambled, and a really nice fruit smoothie. The 2 ladies working here were really nice and friendly and really made an effort to converse with us despite them not having English and us only having a little Spanish.
The building itself has 2 little courtyards and a roof top terrace too. In all we really liked it here, felt very welcome and thought the price was great.
By the way, you also have free use of their internet, and they have wifi - you have top ask them to turn it on but there's no issue there.
I would definitely recommend.
