“Excellent Service, Great Location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2010

Los Tambos was the by far the best hotel we stayed at during our 2 weeks in Peru. The location is perfect for those that want to experience the bustling city life of downtown Arequipa. It's very close to inexpensive restaurants and pharmacies, and right next to the Plaza De Armas.

Vanessa at the front desk handled our check in and check out and she was great! Most everyone there speaks English. We felt like we were given very close attention and care. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended.

We stayed for three days in Los Tambos. Everything from the beginning to the check out is customer focused. The nicest people I ever met in my fairly frequent travels. Vanessa ckecked us in early in the morning. She sent a cab for us at the bus station (included in the room rate). The room was ready at 8 AM. Crispy clean sheets, down duvets, sparkling bathroom.
The breakfast room is small but cozy with (again) nice, warm and genuinely friendly personnel who go out of their way to accommodate you. The food choice is not fancy but sufficient to start you for the day. The omelet is made to order, there are juices, cheeses, coffee, tea, etc. The service impeccable.

The location is "TOP A". You can go on foot everywhere within the historical centre. Myriad of restaurants are around the Plaza de Armas and the hotel is 5 to seven minutes' walk from it. Most churches, museums and historical attractions are within walking distance.

All in all I woukd stay there again. Mind you, it is not a sophisticated high class hotel. It is a new building (which is a plus), clean, comfortable, basically what you need on an active vacation.

we arrived from puno on a local bus that was an adventure in of itself. as we walked up to los tambos ,that was located just a short walk from the main plaza, we were impressed and relieved at the warmth and hospitality the front desk displayed. the hotel itself is warm and quaint, and our king-sized bed and 50 inch plasma soothed all the sore muscles that the inca trail, two nites on the islands of lake titicaca, and that local bus ride inflicted on us. although we would only be there one nite, since we were flying through peru via the gringo trail in 19 days, they gave us a map and we had a great time in beautiful arequipa. first we visited juanita, and then strolled the city. taking up on the recommendations of the hotel we dined at chi cha, a fabulous restaurant, that served us the best meal of our trip....fresh ceviche, chupe de cammerones, roccoto relleno, and a shrimp scampi pasta...these are the traditional dishes of the region and were top-notch. i would recommended los tambos for any and all travelersvisiting arequipa....bravo los tambos

I picked this hotel from the awesome recommendations on tripadvisor... and I totally agree with them! The only people I wouldn't recommend this hotel are those that want a 5 star hotel. Also, this is a small boutique hotel without a gym or spa.

I would equate Los Tambos to a 4 star hotel in the US but with smaller rooms. It is exceptionally clean and comfortable and looks brand new. They provide pickup and dropoff to the bus station/airport, have the best breakfast I had in my 2 1/2 weeks in Peru, gave us a 6pm checkout, and has the best staff ever!!!! It's a 30 second walk to the plaza de arms and other cool areas. And best of all it is very reasonably priced!!! There is free wifi and 1 computer with internet by the front desk. All of my friends loved this hotel and wished our other hotels could have been as good! For those that want the best Manicure/Pedicure, ask the staff... they recommended a place for 45 soles nearby. It's a hair salon on a cute street next to the Plaza de Arms, I've never had anything in the states even close to as good. It was perfect for after finishing the Inka Trail!

Don't let the view from the street fool you. Once inside this is a well maintained hotel with modern decor and extremely helpful staff. The breakfast experience was suprb with the nothing too much trouble for the guy serving. Room was perhaps a little small but that's a minor quibble. Recommended and excellent value for money.

We had a wonderful, wonderful stay at Los Tambos and we fully agree with all of the other positive reviews.

From the moment Thomas (manager) met us at the airport to our free transfer to the bus terminal on departure our every need was met. Without exception every member of staff went above and beyond to help us with our stay in the wonderful city of Arequipa - from excellent restaurant recommendations to advice on things to do and see.

We had a wonderful room on the front with a balcony and views over the rooftops to the mountains beyond. The decor was luxurious and the heater was easily capable of warming the room. Lovely bathroom and plenty of hot water.

Location was perfect...2 minute walk to Plaza Armas.

Thomas knows how to run a good hotel and we would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone...as one other reviewer said, don't look any further...just stay here!
