“Cute and surprisingly comfy!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2012

We only stayed at the Casa Blanca for one night on our way to Colca canyon. It was quaint and comfortable. The hotel doesn't consist of too many rooms (as far as we could tell), and has a bar and cafe downstairs. Apparently the cafe in the lobby is also quite famous for their smoothies which were delicious. The property is a hotel, tour agency, cafe and bar, all in one!

Our room was a double with bathroom. It was very earthy, but clean, with nice soaps, good heating, and hot water all day. My only complaint is that it was somewhat small (especially the bathroom) but it was fine for a short stay. The bed was comfortable. There was no major noise coming from the cafe when we stayed, and that didn't ever bother us anyway. The staff helped us book our visit to Colca canyon, so it was helpful that they also handled tourism and booking. It was a 15 min walk or so to the Plaza de armas and main shopping area.

Overall, a pleasant stay!

After a long night without sleep on a bus, we were wandering the streets of Arequipa, looking for a place to stay. We bumped into this hostal and we loved it! The people were very friendly and very helpful. We first going to stay there for 2 nights, but we ended up staying there 7 nights because my girlfriend got sick. The staff was very helpful and very understanding. They brought the breakfast and dinner upstairs, the rooms were kept clean every day, we had fresh towels on demand, there was nothing to complain about.

About the location, it is a very quiet place were you can sleep peacefully and safely since they close the gates around 9PM. There is also a bar downstairs and they got the best coffee that I had over whole Peru! The beans were blended at the spot. A continental breakfast consists of a coffee/tee, a great fruit smoothie, warm toast, butter and marmelade.

I'd like to thank the staff for being so kind to us. They did everything to make us feel like being home. They never stopped smiling and their friendliness is one of the best memories I had in Peru. It felt like a warm family far away from home, we almost didn't notice that it was a hostel. I would highly recommend this place if you're going to Arequipa!

We stay in this hostel for two nights. After spending a few days in Cabanaconde visiting the Colca Canyon, we back to Arequipa and spend another night in Casablanca Hostel.
The first time we stay in room number 1, a double room with private bathroom: very spacious, with a big sofa, a desk, a tv, a closet, good towels and enough blankets, even its not cold inside the room.
The second time we stay in a smaller room, number 8, but also good and with the same conditions.
The hotel looks like it was made in a recovered old building, with the wall in stone witch give some character to the rooms.
When we arrive the shower wasn’t very hot, but after talk to the staff they immediately resolve the problem.
Both room where well decorated and quiet. The only noise come from the common area, when people stay there talking loud. Anyway it’s a occasional situation, most of the time the hotel is very quit. We read that some people complained about the noise but both of our rooms were quit, away from the street noise, as we had asked.
The breakfast is very good, with bread, jam, butter, juice, coffee, milk and tea. The eggs are optional and paid separately. Unfortunately there’s a constant presence of a tv witch sometimes its louder than desired.
There is also a small terrace, close to the breakfast area, with some chairs.
The staff was helpful every time we ask for some information or help. As we talk Spanish we had no problem to communicate, but maybe in English it’s not so easy.
Safe: we let part of our luggage there when we went to Colca Canyon, with no problems.
Clean.
The internet is free and very fast.
The hostel is well located, very close to the Plaza de Armas.

I heard about this hotel from the great reviews on Tripadvisor and was not disappointed. I had originally booked just a night but ended up staying for a week and loved it. It was the first warm room I've stayed at in Peru! (my room didn't have any windows which could be why) I had the room with the shared bath (only shared with one other room) and it was very clean with hot water. Beatriz who is currently managing is amazing. Love her! She made my stay there so wonderful. She makes sure all the guests are well taken care of.

There is also wifi available (works well and in the rooms) and if you don't have a laptop there is one that can be borrowed.

There is a wonderful coffee shop there as well (Cafe Ole). Great cheap drinks and food and the staff there are wonderful as well. I 100% recommend this hotel for anyone going to Arequipa.

We Have Made Some hostel in Arequipa Before searches But Our trip ended up in White House Accidentally After we arrive. It is really a nice surprise, very cozy and comfortable with reasonable price. Room is clean and warm Even the Outside temperature is low.
Basically we can not speak Spanish But The owner "Mercedes Mercado" (?) Were very helpful and took care of Our needs. Even They offer free international call (i think it's IP phone) Which was very useful for us to say hi back home in Hong Kong. The breakfast is Exceptionally good Especially the coffee with milk!

Very clean and comfortable rooms, the staff were so friendly and helpful and made you feel very welcome. Was great to have a nice coffee shop located right near our room and we also enjoyed nice meals there too.
It really was the best place we stayed in Peru! Thanks to all the staff.

We stumbled upon this place after already booking a hotel in the area. We immediately fell in love with it. We checked out of our hotel the next day and came here. The hotel is clean, extremely safe, and all the staff is superb. Mercedes, the manager, takes her job as a hostess very seriously. Every one of her guest is one of her "children", and she will go out of her way to accomodate and make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Anything you need just ask and she will make it happen. I wish I could take her home with me! Additionally, they are very serious about their coffee. This is hands down the best coffee I found in all of Peru. Even if you cant stay here, you have to come sit in their relaxing bistro and have a latte. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a home away from home. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to extreme partygoers who like to go out till 1 or 2 in the morning. The hotel does a nice job of trying to keep the hotel area quiet at night so their guests can sleep. Overall, the best find thus far on our month long journey through Peru.
