Description: The Alpandina dishes offered by the Zig Zag Restaurant are the result of a creative culinary fusion deeply rooted in the mountains, where the sun endows foodstuffs with energy and balanced components. The dishes most representative of Alpandino gastronomy arise from a marvellous synthesis of unique time-hallowed ingredients from all over Peru, combined with ancient and modern culinary techniques from the Alps and the Andes. One of the results is our great speciality: Volcanic-Stone-Cooked Meats and Fish.

“Good food, good service, good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

Visited Zig Zag September 13 on recommendation of fellow travellers. Booked in the afternoon as we were passing while shopping and arrived at restaurant at 20.20 for our 20.30 reservation.
At 20.45 I had a word at the desk as we had not been taken to a table and shortly afterwards this was done.
The menu was very varied with lots of choice to suit all palates and was reasonably quick service.
The size of the meal was huge with none of our party able to finish the main course or look at the dessert menu !
All in all a good evening out and worth the visit.

“Fantastic meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

On our final night in Arequipa, my husband and I took the recommendation of the hotel front desk clerk and a couple we met in the rainforest, to have dinner at Zig zag. And boy are we glad we did! They are known for their grilled meats. As we learned throughout Peru, food portions are very healthy. My husband and I shared a trio of meat from the grill (came with ratatouille and choice of potato) and quinoa gnocchi (came with a salad) and as we couldn't decide on one dessert, each ordered one. This was probably a close second for top meals in Peru. The atmosphere was terrific. As our dessert arrived, a fireworks display was set off in the park across the street, and as we were sitting at the window, had a terrific view of the spectacular show. Over a week later, and we're still talking about this terrific meal and final evening in Peru. You should definitely check it out. For a meal that would cost us over $100 at home, we ate for $40 in Peru.

“One of the best meals of my life!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

Our tour guide recommended this restaurant, so as it was close to our hotel we decided to give it a go. I had one of their 'Trilogy' dishes which was absolutely wonderful. The presentation, the subtle flavours and the top quality cuts of meat which arrived sizzling away on a slab of hot volcanic rock together with some of the most flavoursome potatoes that I have ever had: it was quite simply one of the best meals of my life. We had a jug of their home made lemonade with some grenadine syrup to accompany it. If you are in Arequipa you must go, you will not be disappointed. As others have said, the service is attentive, the surroundings are also just right. I just want to go again already!

“A fiesta of delightful trilogies”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012 via mobile

Stone-cooked trilogy of meats, the house dish of choice, but most important: those exotic sauces on the side to accompany your alpaca or lamb meat. Specially delightful the green ají of huacatay! Other trilogies: fish (salmon, trout and swordfish) and, of course a dessert trilogy for two. Best in town! Don't miss it!

“Great grilled meat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

That's what we had. Meat, Fillete de Alpaca 300 grams (man sized for ) and rack of lamb (200 grams or my wife). The alpaca was perfectly cooked. Second best I had (first was at Loma in Cuzco) Moist and tasty along with the reduction in guilt because of the low cholesterol. You get to choose the meat and the size of the portion. The Dulce Trilogy was delicious. One of the best in town from our perspective.
