“Would that the organ was still used!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2013

The cathedral is now "just" a museum - an incredible museum. Be sure to look up at the magnificent organ. The windows must have rattled when they played that!

“beautiful OLD church...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

amazing old church, has been restored to original...gorgeous restored pipe organ..during Dia de Disfuntos they had the catacombs open for viewing...they have a lovely carved wood model of what the 'new' cathedral was supposed to look like (although it didn't end up exactly as planned) and some lovely statues too!

“Nice Little Piece of History”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2013

Some of the little hidey-holes in this attraction are more interesting than the actual historical information in the Catherdral, but it's well worth the two dollar admission price just to see the beautifully painted ceilings (some are worse for wear, but it give you a great sense of history), the murals and interesting central courtyard. They occasionally host art exhibits in the main part of the church and courtyard.

“The organ has a unique sound”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013 via mobile

It is worth a visit. Very different from the new cathedral. It is $2 to go inside. They have a wooden carving/model of the new cathedral inside. The organ was playing when we went inside and it was lovely.

“Visit the cellar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2013

I believe it's about $2 to enter. The guard allowed us to go downstairs in the cellar and even up the winding stairs to the organ! Both were very cool, especially that organ. There is a nice-sized model of the new cathedral in one of the rooms and old photos of Cuenca in the outside space. The columns are wood, but painted over to look like stone - bien hecho, diseñadores! It's a nice cathedral with some beautiful pieces from way back when.
