“Runs Through Middle of Town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2014

This is an attractive, smallish river (maybe 10 meters wide or so) that runs through town. Much is parallel with '12 de Abril'. It runs by the university and Parque de la Madre, among other places.

Very rocky, this is NOT a swimming or fishing river. Periodically you will see local women washing clothes in the river and drying them on the river bank. Or you will see lovers lying on the bank.

Other than that, this is a river to enjoy as you walk along side it though -- not a river to wade, swim or fish in.

“Gorgeous”

Wonderful peaceful walking riverside. So well kept and presented pathways and pleasant grassed areas as well as copious seating plus exercise equipment.

“Beautiful riverwalk in a beautiful city.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

This is one of 4 rivers in Cuenca that we enjoy walking along. Nice scenery, sitting areas and views provide daily respite from the busy hustle and bustle of the city. One can feel the negative ions/energy coming from this gift of nature. It's also well maintained and kept clean by the city workers.

“nice diversion/division”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2013

Started ambling past the market to check out scenery along the river. While not a whole lot to see, it's a pleasant stroll to see the holiday decor on the river bank & te ongoing colonial building restorations. Thinking some security challenges? No vendors along the walkway.

“So Beautiful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2013

The beautifully cared for River Walk leads you past museums, spectacular parks (Parque Paraiso and Parque de la Madre) and the stunning Pumapungo Ruins. It is an island of calm in a beautiful city, and well-used by walkers, joggers, bicyclists, lovers - you name it.
A real treat.
