“Still great place to eat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

On our second trip to Cuenca we ate here again a couple of times. Great host and hostess. Ring the bell on the way out. Sold us on Colombian food.

“Very tasty!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

Cheap and tasty Colombian food in very relaxed atmosphere. Be sure to order a couple dishes if you are hungry though! Service was excellent.

“Amazing almuerzo for $2.50”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

It is hard to believe that one can get such a great lunch for $2.50...but this is, indeed, Cuenca. The owners are on top of things here, making sure that everyone is served quickly, to accommodate the people who patiently wait for a table. The soups and main plates are delicious, accompanied by a juice of the day and usually a banana. There is also a menu from which other choices may be made. The bisteca y guacamole with a tortilla is delicious...and only $3.50. There are many other great choices as well.It was pointed out to me by a friend that, since the place is always so busy, the food is always fresh. This is definitely a place to look for, just one block from Calle Larga y Presidente Borrero. While this may not exactly be "fine dining", the excellent rating reflects food quality, portions and price.

“Go Early!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2012

Excellent food, drinks and Columbian coffee! Javier & Janice provide wonderful food at a reasonable cost. Breakfast, the arepas are outstanding! And if you go to lunch from 1-3, you'll wait a little while as the locals flock here. If you are having dental work done, ask Javier about any special soups that are not on the menu...the frijoles soup was very yummy and filling and soft.

“Delicious Authenic Columbian Food w/Vegetarian Options”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

Ummm..What did I like about this place? The atmosphere, the food, and the kind staff. It's a great place for meat lovers and vegetarians and I've eaten both. Make sure that when you dine at El Moliendo, you are hungry because they serve large portions and it only costs $2.50. With every meal, you get a banana. I usually get mine to go but I see Ecuadorians enjoying their banana with their soup. This restaurant is small and it gets crowded fast. You may have to wait to be seated if you arrive after 1:00. You also have the option to share a table with another guest. Hey, look at it as an opportunity to practice your Spanish! :)
